    Quaresma/Babel/Benny

    Hi to one and all!

Righto, just got back from Amsterdam (which was ace! Met Lennox Lewis in one of the Coffee Shops, am taller than him but he is one big big man!!) and i'm a walking train wreck, well an out of touch with LFC happening walking train wreck!

I understand deals for Babel and Benny are close but I was wondering what are they like as footballers? Are they any good? I've seen very little of Benny and haven't even seen Babel kick a ball, so I was wondering if one of our more knowledgable posters could let me know what they would bring to the team now that we don't have already? Will these players help to solve the problem on the wings?

Cheers! Now back to bed to recover! Huzzah

                  1. Quaresma - nothing has been mentioned since the times reported we had bid, also it was briefly mentioned on Athletico Madrid forums that we had hijacked their bid and were favourites to land him, but since nothing has been mentioned except a denial from Parry which could mean anything. The estimated cost to get him is £15-17.5 million pounds varying from different reports. Ricardo Quaresma is a lightning quick and paceful winger very much in the mold of C.Ronaldo. They both played in the same youth team although their coach didnt like them to play together. Quaresma was seen by the coach as the best ever prospect from the prestigious Sporting Lisbon youth academy, although he was seen to have a very poor temperement and mental grasp of the game, he was rated so highly on raw potential which needed to be molded. Since his departure he had a short spell at Barca in which he blew his chances at the club from constant bust ups with backroom staff and fellow players. Apparantly he has matured himself and his grasp on the modern game at Porto in which he is now one of their best talents at the club. I think he would be a fantastic buy and would certainly be worth the gamble, he would improve our attacking options massively. Then again im not Rafa.

                  2. Benayoun - Agreed a fee mooted to be £4 million pound, a very Garcia-esque player who will influence the game through moments of great skill and/or technique, i cannot see him playing a massive part but he is a favourite amongst Hammers fans.

                  3. Babel a young winger/stirker who we have been given permission to speak to by Ajax (meaning pretty much a done deal). He has been raved about in Holland for the past couple of years. Ryan Babel has also started to break in to the national squad scoring 4 goals in 14 apps (i think?). Apparatnyl we are set to pay £13 million pound which, me myself and many fans think is too much, but you have to pay for the players best potential in Europe.

Thank you very much, excellent post, much appreciated!

Like the sounds of Quaresma then, so long as he doesn't cause any agro off the pitch!

Initial concerns about the Benayoun signing, don't exactly see how his purchase strengthens the 1st team (unless he's been bought as a bitpart squad player which is fair enough), and although Babel could turn out to be the bollocks, is he the traditional out and out winger who we need to come into the team immediately and start getting crosses in and creating chances for the forwards??? I dunno, I suppose we shall see very soon!

Can't wait for the new season now!

I doubt Benayoun will figure that much in the tougher away games against the likes of Bolton Blackburn and Sunderland, although he has got a nice little creative side, he will more than likely be a bench player who will look to give a bit of a creative elemant when we look a bit dull, which happened a lot this season just gone.

Why was Lennox Lewis in an Amsterdam coffee shop? Was he smoking skunk?

Or was he being, like, toadally ridiculous and drinking coffee?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

I dunno why he was there. I've been thinking loads about it but can't come up with anything. He wasn't smoking, he had black coffee. He was definately there though for something more than a coffee. When he was leaving what appeared to be the coffee shop owner said to him "and Lennox, I will see you soon". Maybe he's buying a coffee shop in Amsterdam?

Maybe Lennox was picking up a few ho's in the red light district.
