Well, that doesn't really have anything to do with a discussion about deadwood. Not every player in the squad can be a Gerrard or an Alonso.

We no longer have anyone who I'd say is categorically ****, i.e. someone like Diao.

Everyone in the squad bar the youngsters and obvious future departees are good players who wouldn't have too much trouble finding clubs who were interested in taking them off our hands.

Agree and in general we are actually making money on the players we are shipping out. Thats a first

It could be that Kewell's injuries have prolonged his time at anfield. Had he been fit he may have been sold by now but he still has one more chance by the looks of things. Everytime he comes back we say he has one more chance to prove himself but he usually just gets injured straight away.
By january he will either be an important first team regular or ready to be sold. I hope he does well as he is a player of undoubted talent.

i wouldnt sell harry this year, wont get much for him and after paying his wages for so long while not playing, it would be a waste.

i could imagine selling him and then him having a corker of a season elsewhere (injury free), quality player on his day and ill never forget the smile on my face the day we signed him (one of my favs at the time)

If Kewell stays fit he can still be one of the best in Europe, I think he will have a storming year as he will want to prove himself to Rafa and earn a new deal with us.

The only deadwood left I can think of is Le Tallec

Apparently, he still needs at least 2.5 hrs of physio for each game, so let's not confuse ourselves into thinking he is back to his leeds days. Watch him till Jan and take it from there.

Don't forget he's hardly made a big impression on Oman and Iraq!

I'm sure I read somewhere that he will be offered a new 2year deal if/when he returns to training uninjured ?

Harry is still a valuble asset to allow to leave on a free - Also he would look like a ****** if he upped an left whilst a deal was on the table.

I agree. However I cant help feeling his time at Anfield will soon end - in the last year Rafa has bought 2 left backs, and if the Heinze rumours are true we're about to make that three.
I know I'll often stop and think about them, In My Life, I love you more - 96

That is because he sold two left backs - warnock and traore and we needed cover

I think Rafa's done a tremendous job in shifting some of the absolute ****e we had when Ged left us. In just on 3 or so years, he's shifted all of Geds crap, shifted on the players he bought himself that didn't cut it and seems he's replaced them with quality players all over the pitch.

To be honest i'm quite happy for all of our players to stay at the moment but I do think there's going going to be question marks over a few:

Aurelio - Seems a quality player but if we can't rely on him what use is he, i think this will be a make or break season for him

Sami - Must be nearly time to hang up the boots, but if he can carry on for another season after this coming one i'd be very happy.

Carson - Not sure he'll be happy challenging Reina all season, I expect him to ask to leave next season, after playing about 6/7 games for us this season.

Kewell - Needs a very good season to stand any chance of staying with us, I expect him to come good tho

Assuming our new signings all settle, replacing those above players should be doable, so i think the future is bright

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
