Does Rafa have any excuse not to...

Whenever anybody launches such a defence of Rafa, they have to bring up cup achievements. That is fair enough, a trophy is a trophy. My big gripe with Rafa is the league. Go on about where we finished, how many points we have finished behind united blah blah. Fact-at no point has anybody during Rafa's tenure, journo, fan or otherwise been able to say at anytime- 'I think Liverpool will win the league', or even 'I think Liverpool will go close this year.' It hasn't happened. Houllier had a fantastic cup record, but did anyone defend him on the back of it? Did they ****.

Yeah but only scoring once makes it harder to win, doesnt it. I'm not sure about the 'last chance for rafa' theory, because i dont subscribe to that at all. But the lad has a point about the goals. We dont score anywhere near enough.Originally posted by The Glove View PostTrue but winning 5-0 gets the same amount of points as winning 1-0.
Arsenal have won how many league titles in the years youre talking about? In fact how many times did they finish above us in those years?

Well put mate, this lad has it in for Rafa wants him gone and really doesn't want to see us improve because that may mean he would have to admit he was wrong and Rafa gets to stay.Originally posted by Morphorino View PostTo be honest mate i doubt there's many who would agree with you, even if we didn't challenge this season, i still think he'd be given another year to get it right.
Thing is I can't possibly see us not getting a fair bit closer:
We'll have Mascher for the whole season, hopefully a fit sissoko, Kewell, Aurelio, new players who are better than the ones we shipped out - Torres>Bellamy, Voronin>Fowler, Babel>Zenden, Benayoun maybe better than Garcia, hopefully Carson will prove better than Dudek, Lucas coming in as well, and maybe a few more yet to come.
The likes of Kuyt, Pennant, Agger in their second season can hopefully only get better, I'd be astonished if all that isn't worth another 10-15 points

That's bull**** at the start of last season we were widely tipped to go close after our exceptional league season the year before.Originally posted by Reds08 View PostWhenever anybody launches such a defence of Rafa, they have to bring up cup achievements. Unfortunately that didn't materialise for many different reasons all which are wasted on you.

Rafa's a great manager but he's not a miracle worker, did you honestly expect us to be challenging by now? I mean when we compare available resources aren't we pretty much were we expect, 3rd just around the same spot as Arsenal, and Rafa's had a similar buying style to Wenger. Only now have we really gone anything like over the 10 mil per player mark, and we've a couple of signings like what you might expect from the mancs and chavs, these are the times when we should be looking forward to the new season with a bit more than hope.Originally posted by Reds08 View PostWhenever anybody launches such a defence of Rafa, they have to bring up cup achievements. Your negative/realistic stance seems odd to me in these exciting and optimistic timesThomas Hicks Senior
Hang on a minute. We have the new owners, we now have the money, we have now spent the money. Where are the excuses for not mounting a genuine challenge? If we don't, 4 years in the job without so much as a geunine challenge would have to be the end of Rafa surely?
The issue it does raise is that many on here would put it down to Rafa's rebuilding. Yet, few could debate that both Arsenal and United have undergone significant rebuilding in the same period, Mourinho came in as a new manager albeit he may as well have played LMA. I just think people make too many exscuses for Rafa. Come the end of the season it will be much harder to protect the over-hyped Spaniard.Originally posted by Reds08 View PostI think there may be a decision to be made at the end of the season. Again, I stress, this is merely what I think will happen.I think you need review your opinion I believe all of the above one demonstrate his mind set and two his daftness and btw thats just this thread.Originally posted by DJS View PostNone of his posts are as daft as your 'you want LFC to fail so you can be right' nonsense.

Redblood what is your problem?
I am a rafa sceptic, i am allowed to be. People are now defending me that i've had no postal contact with. Have a look at yourself. You are a deluded sad act that can't accept that your opinions are not shared by all. I, for all my scepticism, accept others may want to be more optimistic. Your personal vendetta is sad and vindictive.

You can think what you like mate, but the notion that people want their club to fail, so they can be 'proved right' is utterly pathetic and childish, and has been for years...utter balls.Originally posted by redblood View PostI think you need review your opinion I believe all of the above one demonstrate his mind set and two his daftness and btw thats just this thread.

There are 'question marks' over the loyalty of anybody who apparently doesnt think we'll have the title wrapped up by the end of November...that's the arrogance of some of the 'super fans'...if you disagree with them, or have any view that isnt uber-positive, you MUST be a non-LFC supporting windup...Originally posted by The Glove View PostBut there are question marks over this being his club.
