    Aussies through (Kewell)

Harry Kewell bagged a goal as Australia booked their place in the Asian Cup quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Thailand on Monday.
The Liverpool winger claimed his side's fourth on 90 minutes when he stormed onto a Tim Cahill pass, took the ball into the area and drove a right-foot shot into the back of the net.

It was Kewell's second of the competition and his 10th in 28 caps for the Socceroos.

The result, which was carved out in tropical rain at Thailand's national stadium, sets up a quarter-final showdown with defending champions Japan on Saturday.

    ---------------

Pity they didn't get knocked out Harry could have joined up with the rest of the team then, as well at least he's gettin a few more competetive games

Haven't seen the games but in 3 he has scored twice and has one assist. If he can reproduce that in the EPL then we WILL win the EPL

Exactly, and that can only be good for him. It's not as if he's had a hard season and will need much time off after the Asia cup. So let him get a few more games under his belt, maybe win the tournament and join up with the rest of the team in high spirits. A fit and dangerous Kewell could be crucial to our season.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Good run out for him and in some heat but the opposition isnt that tough.

I guess its just about fitness for him

What if he reproduces his Leeds form this year. Would you still be happy?

I reckon it'll take more than 1 assist and 2 goals from Kewell for us to win the Prem fella

I have seen all 3 Aussie games at the Asian Cup. Harry played a full 90 minutes in the first 2 games, where he struggled to be honest, as did the rest of the side. They are managed by a muppet, and are struggling in the 35 degree heat and humidity. He came off the bench last nite and looked much better, and his goal was a beauty (played in by Cahill). Considering its his first full games in a long while, he will be much better for the run.

Its worth noting the original report is wrong. Harry got a goal and an assist in the warm up match against Singapore.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Harry came off the bench last night and had some nice touches and scored a nice goal. He didnt do so well starting in the previous 2 matches. Cahill came off bench too and played a hand in the last 3 goals including Harrys'.

Harry was not much more than a passenger in the loss to Iraq, if I wasn t looking for him I would have been pressed to notice him.

He was dropped to the bench for the final group game with Thailand, and apologised to the coach for his performance. (If what I read was correct)

Came off the bench against Thailand, and although he didn t do a great deal other than score, he took his goal really well - cool as a cucumber finishing which was good to see.

I 'd like to see him have more of an impact on games at this level, but then maybe he is just not that type of player anymore.

I still harbour some hope that Harry will et some form and fitness back, if he can stay injury free, I am sure he will be a big asset for us this season, and Babel will have his work cut out to get a game regularly. I hope Australia win this tournament. IT would be good to have him back full of confidence.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

You guys seem to forget that the Aussies played Oman, Iraq & Thailand, powerhouses of football they are not.
Japan will batter Australia in the QF(sorry Aussie REDS but yer lads been playing terrible). Kewell will come back knackered as usual.
