    Is This It

There's almost no real 'news' on transfers anymore - with the club and the papers very quiet....DOES THIS MEAN that we have again not been able to buy/attract a quality out-and-out winger?

What happened to our interest in Simao / Queresmo / etc ?

I only ask because this has been one of our GLARING striking deficiencies over the past few years, and has held us back!

'Promise' (Babel) is one thing.....but delivering is quite another - look at Speedy and Harry!

Whilst I'm always there for my team......I do fear another 'almost' year coming along....!

I think we will try to add a left back but if you ask me we have all the attacking signings we will get.

It's not what I had in mind but I can see what we have doing very well actually. I think that the players we had last year have more to offer than they showed last year and the new recruits do offer a lot more scoring potential. I really think the way the season turns out will be down to whether we can get a front four who gel well and if players who may only be deployed in certain games like Pennant can keep motivated to improve and push for the first XI.

We needed added creativity and pace in our attacking players and we have that. I think goal threat and movement are more important than having players hugging the touchline. While I would have liked to have sen some of the wingers mentioned brought in I think that the way we have moved the side is an equally potentially effective way of moving forward.

It has to be remembered that we need to hit the ground running and it often takes time for flair players who play out wide and thus see less of the ball to settle. It may be that Rafa feels what we have done will improve the team more rapidly than adding conventional wingers who may be better added to a team that already challenges for the title.

It could also mean that a big deal is just round the corner. Who knows? Not me, not you.

Until the transfer window closes, there isn't a lot of point going on about it.

              Chill out.
              Oh I don't know.

Maybe, just maybe, Rafael Benitez is actually happy with the squad he now has at his disposal, and he would like to sign one more defender, IF he can, but if he doesn't, he won't be too bothered.

                Just maybe.

I have it on good authority from another website that we've secured the services of a winger with Q in his surname. This deal will be tied up at the end of season. You heard it here 2nd.

The end of next season? or do you mean pre-season?

what website mate? or can;t you sat, in fear of getting the website into trouble
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I think at least one defender is certain to arrive. Rafa told Sami he was free to leave (if reports are accurate) at the end of the season. Now that Sami has apparently decided to stay and fight for his place, there is no way Rafa would rely on him as the only senior cover for CB (I know Arbeloa is supposedly comfortable there, doubt he's the answer either).

If we started the season with this squad and Carra or Agger picked up a serious injury, we'd be in big trouble. Think Rafa is just taking his time now. New recruits up front was his main priority which he sorted first. Now the pressure is off he can wait until the right defender becomes available.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think the criticism of your post on this thread is a bit harsh to be honest. I think with the uncertainty regarding Barry Kewell's fitness, that another out-and-out winger could be required. Center Back must be the priority though.
