El Zhar's Chances?

Okay well he seems to be getting quite a few appearances in pre-season and he's already played a a few games in the league and CL, do we think he has what it takes to break into the main squad that Rafa will pick from this season?

In all of Rafa's time the only player to really come through in such a way was Agger, and the only reason for that was to acclimatise Agger to English footy really, so is El Zhar going to be the first?

Depending on how he continues to play in the pre season games i would say, he does seem to be improving, i think he will get a few games. The guy has plenty of talent and doesnt seem to be have any attitude problems like Letallac

kewell will not play every game due to his injury problems, babel i suspect will play in a number of positions.

If he wants a proper career, he should leave the club this summer.

I think he'll get a good run out this season, Rafa praised him after his display against Auxerre. He needs to toughen up a little but I think game time in the first team will do that for him.
He is a real prospect hope he finds his feet.
I expect to see him in the Carling Cup and some EPL games as a sub.

Only had a look at him against Auxerre but he looked like a decent young player.

These youngsters can only get better with games, so at least let us give them 10-15 games or so to get their act together.

True enough.

I was just asking as maybe the lads have seen more of him then I have,but I was impressed enough by him to be encouraged that he might break through.

I think he’s getting a few pre-season games because our left side is still a concern at the minute. I doubt he’s in Rafa’s first team plans, but he’s using pre-season to see if he could do a job if Kewell and Babel are injured or not performing.

He seems to be growing in confidence with each game, so I’d like to see him get another start tomorrow and see how he gets on.
