Van Basten, whats his problem with liverpool?

Been reading about Van Basten asking Babel not to join us and to stay in Holland,in order to increase his chances of making the Dutch squad for the next WC.

Didn't he do the same to Kromkamp when he was moving to us too?
(Fair enough Kromkamp should have listened but that's neither here nor there)

Is it just us or is this his policy on all young dutch players moving abroad,it'll be interesting to see if he has similar words with the young dutch lad Chelsea are after.

Or would he have a problem if AC Milan were trying to sign Babel etc......

I'm not,but just wondering about it is all.

I suppose asking opinions in a football forum is a fools folly!!

Now piss off back to the kitchen, the lunch time rush is approaching and it's always busy on "all you can eat Monday".

Van Basten likes the sound of his own voice.

I doubt he even listens to what he says.

You are correct that he warned Kronkamp against joining us but the way I read it he ony made a general statement to the u21 squad that they should stay at home and play regularly to avoid moving too early and not getting sufficient game time - I don't think he sat Babel down to warn against signing for us

                  Still an arsebag though
At a football club there's a holy trinity- the players the manager and the supporters, Directors dont come into it, they are only there to sign the cheques " - Bill Shankly

What's wrong Kenneth, did you not get laid at the weekend? Yep. That'll be it.

Nevermind, chin up lad, there's always next year.

Van ******* thinks he is a modern day Guru to all Dutch Footballers. He comes across as very stubborn in his opinions and arrogant. Just ask RVN.
I don't think it is right he tries to dictate where all the Dutch footballers play, it is almost like a threat, or at least, it can sound like it.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Think he has a point. If Babel struggles to impress whereas Kewell gets off to a flyer then Babel might spend a lot of this season on the bench. In time he might become a really good player, but from our point of view spending 11.5M on potential is a huge risk, whilst for the player he might have been better served becoming a bigger star at Ajax.

I actually think that too but we could both be wrong, and he may rise to the challenge much better than we expect and raise his game, as his form did kind of reach a plateau after initially bursting on to the scene.
I just don't like the way he advises people, fair enough, he may be valid with some of his points, but there just hints sometimes there is a veiled warning within his advice. Kromkamp for example got a fair bit of stick from him after joining us.

Van Basten is a knob look how he dropped RVN one of the best strikers in the world.

.....he finally begged him to come back into the Holland setup
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........
