It's what we think that counts not those scummy *******s, it's our new home for many years to come. In fact when we play them in our new stadium we should ban 'em, more room for us.

Has anyone notice the screens on the outside looking into the park? George and Tom kept going on about in American sports people make a day of it and get to the ground early to soak up the atmosphere and have bbq's etc. Do you think these screens are to encourage people to go the park on match days and watch the match/buildup from the outside? Love the design i can't wait for my first visit to New Anfield. Might start getting in queuing fir a ticket now...

On another note how can Manure fans say anything about scaffolding, if any of them bothered going to old Toilet they will see that the roof is one major scaffolding maze. W@nkers.

If there was no investment on the horizon (and I doubt very much if Moores, Parry etc were lookign to sell the club back in 2000 when the plans were initally drawn up) would we have been saddled with another generic stadium, whose capacity would have been capped at 60,000? My concern is for all their big talk in the past, Parry and Moores did not have big enough ambitions or designs for the club. They were happy to meander along, spend a bit of money, pick up the odd trophy, increase the capacity a bit. I think they have seen the amounts Chelsea have spent on transfers and on their ground, and what Arsenal have achieved at the Emirates in terms of naming rights, mathcday revenues etc, and only then relaised what Liverpool needs to compete and what the club can achieve in the right hands. They were thinking inside the box, and only when other clubs pushed the parameters did they see the limit of their thinking. That's my interpretation of it anyway.

Either way, respect to G&T, because they seem to have the ambition to match the stature of the club.

Possibly. Should never have been on the agenda though. Like I say above, if we didn't find the funds, would we have settled for it? That design would have capped the capacity at 60,000. They even considered a 55,000 capacity. That kind of limited, shortsighted thinking worries me.
The original plans were for a MUCH large capacity 70,000-80,000 initially

It was only confirmed about 2 or 3 years ago that the application would be for 60,000 and the subsequent design was then released

Do a search on the official site theres an interview from Parry circa 2004 when he announces details of the exact proposal

Its clear that financial constraints were a major factor

I do however agree that the non-expandable stadium was idiotic but was that Parry or Moores, or just that it was the cheapest option to build?

i dont think they can. i think that they have crammed in as many as possible and they cant put another layer on the top cos the foundations wont hold it

Actually I do believe that Old Trafford with a bit of difficulty could be expanded on the south side but what's the point in concerning ourselves with that?

                                Awesome stadium.

Since the Yanks have taken over we've made massive strides forward. In 6 months we've signed all our top players to new contracts, broken our transfer record, put forward plans for a truly unique stadium and set up our own tv channel. If only we were this professional 10 years ago then maybe we'd be winning league titles rather than watching the Mancs and Chavs do so now.

                                G&H, I salute you both
