Player Ratings - LFC vs SCFC

Once again I didn't get a chance to see the match. I'd appreciate insight from those who got to see it as to how each of the players did. I sensed that Kewell was so so. Momo was good until the 2nd half. And that, as usual, our hero the crow was MOM?

Carson 5 - one ball to catch and he missed it.
Arbeloa 7 - tried to get forward and support, poor final ball
      Carra 7 - usual self
Agger 8 - I wish he could get himself forward more often, deadly left foot
Riise 8 - Got forward and hit the ball very hard!!
Kewell 5 - Barry was playing today
Alonso 7.5 - comfortable, and got a few shots away
Momo 5 - foul after foul and gave the ball away or over run it
Youssi 6.5 - he can do better than this, looked dissapointed with himself
Crouch 6 - quiet game for Crouchy
Voronin 8 (mom) - should have scored but was awesome again

Martin 6 - touched the ball once and then fell over kicking it away
Finnan 7 - brought a better balance when on the right
Pennant 7.5 - I think he is about to shine and prove some people wrong
Kuyt 7.5 - typical work rate, trying to build a partnership with Voronin
Hyppia 7 - played in midfield, looked a little lost at times but did ok
Threllfal 7 (sp?) - skinned alive for first touch but recovered and had a few nice touches.

        Thanks man appreciate the insight.

I'm glad Arbeloa did OK there were a few doubts about him towards the tail-end of the season. Sounds like he's got past that.

I'm REALLY happy about Xabi, he under-performed last year and if he is back to his best he's a player and a half.

The CROW well I started the fan club because I had an inkling he would succeed, but he has exceeded all my expectations. He's pretty much been the MOM in all the matches he's played in.

Thanks man! Like you, I'd like to see Agger going forward more, maybe not as much as Hansen, but much more than at present. He is real class going forward and he actually isn't a bad finisher. Thats two goals in preseason so far. That puts him and the crow at the head of the list does it not?

On kuyt, I think the preferred partnership is going to be Torres and the crow. Kuyt and the crow seem similar players, but the crows link up play and finishing have been better than anything we saw from Kuyt last year.

Did you get that impression from the game?

You must have really low expectations then.

Whilst I do agree that he's been good in pre-season, remember it's just that - pre-season.

He's performed well against the mighty Wrexham, Werder Bremen, Auxerre reserves (mostly) and South China (who?), but let's see how he does against Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and whoever we face in Europe before we declare him a success.

I only say this, because I remember a few years ago people falling over themselves to declare that Sean Dundee was the dogs bollocks based on his pre season form.

Oh, and let's not talk about Cheyrou's pre season magic

JAR has been ripped on here all summer and yesterday he played well, scored an absolute peach of a goal, then switched positions and set up agger with a nice pull-back for the third. And yet no 'well dones!" to JAR?
                  I'm disappointed.

Could Heinze have done the same? No. Give me JAR over Heinze any day of the week.

But let's not let the facts get in the way of a good story eh?

What are you talking about spacecake?

You didn't even watch the match, so how are you basing your opinion on what you've "seen with your own eyes?"

I'll say it again, with slightly less words - so you understand better.

Veronin has played well against mediocre oppositions.

Let's leave the back-slapping and self congratulation to one side until he performs against the top sides.

For what it's worth, I've been impressed with him, but wont make any judgment on him until (as I've said before) he's played against top teams for us.

                    Carry on yawning now.

He's had a bad press lately JAR so I'm happy for him.

Did anybody else not think he played extremely well in midfield? He looked very comfortable, always looking the ball and keeping it very simple. I hope he gets his fair share of games this year and not just used mainly as a sub. When he is sub though, his versatility in covering so many positions should essentially free up another spot on the bench, which hopefully can be allocated to another attacker.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
