Excellent stuff,Originally posted by Jop View PostI had a brief chat with Kuyt last night at the EPL function in Hong Kong and as a bit of a wind up i told him i expect 20 goals from him this season but could settle on 15. He said he will be trying his best to get as many as he can but the main thing was that we win the league whoever gets the goals which i believe is the mentality the whole team have.
These boys play the way and in the positions Rafa wants them to play so its not like Kuyt or anyone else can go out there and say sod the plan i'm playing this game my way.
In my opinion Kuyt will see out this season and a few more after that with Liverpool.
By the way as an ambassador for the club the boy was top drawer.

you must have got a few quality pics. mate
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

cheers man but Finnan signing his contract was common knowledge before the REDS flew to Asia.

kuyt is not gonna cut it . i really dont see what he offers.enough of that workrate ****...we have plenty of midfielders for that. dont think he has enough pace and skill to make something outta nothing...to be honest bellamy and crouch looked more likely to score when they had the ball at their feet.the only reason i think kuyt is still around is cus rafa did spend 11 million on him...and to ship him off would reality look not good on his transfer record. the rest who were given the sack after only one season didnt cost any much as kuyt did.so i think the price tag has saved kuyt's behind....and i doubt any of the top teams would want him...making him not that much marketable as well.another season like the last ...he should be on his wayLast edited by justcruisin; 26-07-07, 03:40 PM.

cut him a bit of slack..despite having premiership experience crouch could not score even if his life depended on it in the first 6 months..Last year he looked very threatening, I agree with that..As for Kuyt, the guy had to get used to an tougher league and a higher standard of play and still provided a decent goal return..Just because his style is not pleasing to the eye does not mean he is not effective..Originally posted by justcruisin View Postkuyt is not gonna cut it . i really dont see what he offers.enough of that workrate ****...we have plenty of midfielders for that. dont think he has enough pace and skill to make something outta nothing...to be honest bellamy and crouch looked more likely to score when they had the ball at their feet.the only reason i think kuyt is still around is cus rafa did spend 11 million on him...and to ship him off would reality look not good on his transfer record. the rest who were given the sack after only one season didnt cost any much as kuyt did.so i think the price tag has saved kuyt's behind....and i doubt any of the top teams would want him...making him not that much marketable as well.another season like the last ...he should be on his way
Kuyt's first season >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Crouch's first season
And I dont think it is price tag which is saving him..it is the fact that he goes out there and works his ass of for the team...He is playing a deeper role because Rafa asks him to..If Rafa had personally instructed him to play further ahead and he did not comply,I dont think he would have started as many games...

That's bollox for a start Rafa has shown on more than one occassion that he doesn't care about that bull****, if the player is not good enough then he'll be gone end of.Originally posted by justcruisin View Postkuyt is not gonna cut it . i really dont see what he offers.enough of that workrate ****...we have plenty of midfielders for that. dont think he has enough pace and skill to make something outta nothing...to be honest bellamy and crouch looked more likely to score when they had the ball at their feet.the only reason i think kuyt is still around is cus rafa did spend 11 million on him...and to ship him off would reality look not good on his transfer record. the rest who were given the sack after only one season didnt cost any much as kuyt did.so i think the price tag has saved kuyt's behind....and i doubt any of the top teams would want him...making him not that much marketable as well.another season like the last ...he should be on his way

I disagree with that. Crouch may have taken time to get his goal scoring going but he helped change how we played - for the better. That season he was one of the key reasons why our league form was as good as it was, even with some iffy results.Originally posted by peekay View PostKuyt's first season >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Crouch's first season

We bought the wrong dutchman last year.I was dissapointed at his signing and wished we had gone for Huntelaar instaed.I still feel exactly the same.Kuyts name on the team sheet doesn't excite me at all.Yea he works hard for the team. But then again,so did Heskey.-----------------------------------------------

Exactly. For me that's another reason SG has to play CM, to prevent Kuyt from having to drop too deep to collect the ball. Kuyt or Voronin need to learn to play off Torres to pick up the pieces and create space with their natural movement around him. But they need to do that in and around the box, not just inside the opponents half.

Sorry mate that's absolute garbage - just look at their comparative league goalscoring records - that'll tell who's more deadly. Granted, Crouch scored a few outside the league as well (something Kuyt didn't do last year), and his goals / starts ratio was better, but there's NO DOUBT who was the more effective striker over a league campaign last season with regards to Bellamy.Originally posted by justcruisin View Post...to be honest bellamy and crouch looked more likely to score when they had the ball at their feet.
