    Ready, Steady...

    Andriy!

    Doesnt quite rhyme

But having watched Voronin in the preseason campaign, it's hit me who he reminds me of...

For me, he plays in a very similar style to Teddy Sheringham. Drops deeper and finds the hole, but also capable of getting higher up the park.

Very intelligent in his movement and reading of the game, good link up player, spots a pass and is good at retaining possession. Not quick but knows how to find space.

    Anyone else see a similarity?

He is better than i expected, works hard, keeps the ball well and makes good runs.

I dont expect him to start though come the start of the season. Kuyt and torres will probs be first choice.

I don't think they'll be the first choice pairing first game of the season, I'd wager Voronin will play

He certainly looks impressive and will do his confidence a world of good. But im not getting carried away and will reserve my judgement once he plays in the PL. Still a hero though

Aye, but with Crouch and Voronin, it looks like we have plenty of choices*

*twas hard to resist saying possibilities
Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

His running off the ball and creating space is very good and he is a worker, never gives up, i think he is going to make a lot of defenders very nervous this season, and no not because of the ponytail.

                    He's relatively quick though.

Generally, I stay well clear of heaping praise on new lads in pre-season... but I have to say, the Crow has me wanting to believe...

True, the level of competition has been below-standard... but sometimes how a player performs against non-flash sides says a lot about their character. We have lost so many points in the past few teams against soft teams on dreary Saturdays that it does my head in. It would be nice to have a few more lads who play like every match is the second leg of the semis against Chelsea.

He reminds me of Emmanuel Petit with his poncy long blonde hair.

As I've said before, three words:

                          BRUNO.
                          CHEYROU.
                          LAZIO.

I remember going to Cheyrou's debut in a pre-season friendly against Lazio at Anfield. Although we lost the match 1-0, he was absolutely outstanding and the Kop were soon chanting his name which was confusing because Heskey was also known as 'Bruno' at that time! However, we all know what Cheyrou was really like but I do think Voronin is a much, much better footballer.
There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

For the record, this thread was intended more as a comparison, in playing style, to Sheringham, rather than to heap premature praise on the lad.
