Jocky only got 26 caps because Willie Miller and Alex McLeish were the centre back pairing for Aberdeen and as Aberdeen were doing well they decided to keep them together in the Scots team.

Hansen got 26 caps for Scotland but it wasn't down to Ferguson, who was only in charge of Scotland for 10 games. At that time, most, if not all of our players were club-first players.I remember a great anecdote of a pre-match meeting amongst the Scottish team before a match with the Republic of Ireland. A few players were asked to stand up in front of the group and
talk about the strengths and weaknesses of their Irish clubmates. Albiston of United got up and talked about Moran, McGrath and Stapleton. Graeme Sharp got up to talk about Kevin Sheedy. When it was Kenny's turn to stand up to talk about Whelan and Beglin, he stood up and said "I have nothing to say" and sat back down.
