Yes, we only have a few preseason games to go on, but so far I've got to say that Voronin's made an instant impression, while Torres is clearly still finding his feet. For now, I'd go with Voronin alongside Kuyt/Crouch. Any opinions?

depends on who we play really.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I think that Kuyt should be the focal point of the attack as he brings in other players the best. I think that Torres' pace would win him the nod to partner him. I think that partnership has the highest potential of hurting other teams and fitting the style of play Rafa seems to be working towards.
I like the fact that Voronin is giving us genuine options up front.
In some ways I think Crouch is our best individual forward (or at least was last year) but I feel there is more to come from Kuyt and that he makes a more natural player to work with two wide players cutting in."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

to a certain extent yes, but Crouch causes everyone trouble. hat trick against arsenal, winner against Scum in the cup, plus in europe defenders **** themselves.Originally posted by bazza76 View Postdepends on who we play really.Always borrow money from a pessimist. Yes, he does seem quite effective.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postto a certain extent yes, but Crouch causes everyone trouble. hat trick against arsenal, winner against Scum in the cup, plus in europe defenders **** themselves.
Still though, Rafa seems to bench him alot. Crouch's biggest downfall is his lack of pace I think, in Rafa's eyes. So,
I think Torres wil play alot of the time, and it could well be more of the same for Crouch.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

I think Rafa uses Crouch to very nearly he full potential, picks the right games and times to use him (except for not bringing him on earlier in the CL final).
There was a point last season, around the Arsenal game where it really looked like Crouch would push on and become a really top class player. Improving both his heading and the speed at which he got the ball down to play it. He didn't keep it up which was a disappointment, if he returns to that sort of form he will be first choice and one of the best forwards in the country."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

when he first arrived and came on against West Ham, I was really excited about Kuyt. I loved his directness and shoot on sight policy. He works his arse off for the team. But take away that and whats left? He isn't prolific enough, never will be. It can't be taught.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostTorres and Kuyt

I think you are slightly unfair on Kuyt. He managed a record of about 1 in 3 and his awareness of players around him is excellent. His record in Holland would imply that when asked to play right up front he can be prolific. To my mind it is uncertain whether he will ever become so in the PL but it seems slightly unreasonable to say he won't do it after just one season for us.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postwhen he first arrived and came on against West Ham, I was really excited about Kuyt. I think it will depend on who we play against. We really do have two teams to choose from and only Reina, Carra, Finnan and Gerrard will be more or less guaranteed a starting place.
After that we have at least seven forward players to choose from and we will play 442 and 433 and variations on those, depending on the opposition.
Sometime it will suit us to use direct, brute force - Crouch, Kuyt, Voronin. Other times pace and finesse will be of the essence - Torres etc.
The great thing is we have options (possibilities even) and if one approach is not working we can change it easily.
It's not so long since Fowler and Owen were our first choice and some teams closed down our passing game and made us toss it in where the two smallies were just eaten alive and we couldn't change it. Shouldn't happen any more. You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

As you say his work rate is top notch and i think he will compliment Torres well...say kuyt does the 'dirty work' and allow Torres to do his stuff. Also i think Kuyt has a good footballing brain and if he gets a good understanding with Torres they could become a awesome pairing.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View Postwhen he first arrived and came on against West Ham, I was really excited about Kuyt. as long as we win I don't care too much who plays. the problem with tinkering for me is when you lose. Crouch not starting against Milan will always be in my mind. what could of been.Originally posted by The_Milkman View PostAs you say his work rate is top notch and i think he will compliment Torres well...say kuyt does the 'dirty work' and allow Torres to do his stuff.
