    Everton

Am I in the minority or do you hope they are successful. I remember in the 80's when Liverpool/Everton where arguably the best 2 teams in Europe. Now I don't live in Liverpool so I really don't have family/friends that a blues but if they were both successful if would only benefit the whole city of Liverpool.

Am I right or just plain crazy?

I`ve often wondered how many people support both and how some people can hate a team from their own city.

I've an uncle(born in Dublin) whos lives in Little Hulton (outside of Manchester) now and has for about 30 odd years. He supports all Northern teams as he puts it.

Plain crazy mate. I would like to be the bigger man and say that I hoped they performed well, but frankly the amount of ****e that comes out of their mouths completely restricts me from doing so. In any case, I don't think a successful Everton side would benefit the city. Kirkby maybe...

See thats what I want to know. It's hard to find an Everton fan here in West Virginia and when I went to school in Dublin everyone was either a Man U or Liverpool fan so I don't know any Blues

So they spout ****e cause they are jealous of Reds????

Well, they, or at least some of them, would probably tell you that it's because we are a bunch of 'glory-hunting, evil, murdering *******s' (and I'm not exaggerating there). Basically, it's our fault that Everton have no money, no silverware and are having to leave the city to pursue any kind of bountiful future.

Their reliance on being the 'People's Club', or the working-man's club (a fallacy, btw) is quite embarrassing and, to be truthful, frustrating beyond belief to listen to on a daily basis. And the vitriol and hatefulness in their voices when they talk about LFC can be quite disturbing at times. Evertonians HATE Liverpool, it's as simple as that, and I'll be ****ed if I am going to show any support to their cause, no matter how pathetic.

About the only thing that makes me feel any sympathy for them is the fact that they support a club which is so heavily in the shadow of another just half a mile down the road. Something I think we take for granted at times. But basically, to go back to the original point you made, yes, they spout ****e because they are jealous and fed-up, as you probably would be if you supported the blue****e.

Would you compare Man City fans to Everton fans then?

The bitterness only started post Hysel, they still firmly believe that had it not been for the european ban they would have gone on to rule european and english football for like forever.

                    To give you an idea

How many evertonians does it take to change a light bulb?

None............they just sit in the dark and blame it all on Liverpool
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

I used to share those sentiments. When they were in relegation dogscraps year after year I used to hope they would get out of it because I had a sense of nostalgia for the 80s when we were the two best teams in the country and I thought we would miss that rivalry.

However, when they were scrapping for 4th place in the league in 2005 and a CL qualifier while we were busy winning the ****ing thing we all woke up to their bitterness. Their ingracious comments about us not being allowed in the competition (because 4th place in the league is far more worthy than being CL winners) and how we shouldn't be allowed a share of "their" CL tv money, and the way they tried to kick us off the field at Anfield in the 2-1 win, and the constant bile we've had from their fans ever since, I really hope they crawl back into oblivion where they belong. I have absolutely no respect for them and I wish them nothing but misfortune there in our shadow where they reside.

Their bitterness is quite astonishing at times. The bile they spout whenever we play them, especially at their place, is laughable.

The season before last when we played them at Anfield was superb. When Stevie got sent off you could see the delight in their eyes. They thought there and then that they were going to beat us. That was until we scored a goal either side of the break and went 2-0 up. I was sat right beside them in the Annie Road end that day and the look on their faces was priceless.

It was even better on boxing day that year when we turned them over 3-1 at woodison.
