I'm still wondering what the psychological effect of not winning the league will do to the chavs next year.

I also think Manure we're over reliant on Ronaldo last year.

I can see your point but if any of Sir Stevie / Torres / the crow / Momo have a season like ronaldo did. Then we'll definitely be up there!

It'll be hard for United to be as good as they were last season, but they've improved their squad and I can't see them getting significantly less points.

Chelsea had a torrid time with injuries last year, there's no way they won't improve this time round.

For us to get close this year then Gerrard, Alonso, Kuyt, Torres and Kewell will have to have better season's then they've ever had before. How likely is that though? Not this time for me, both of these two are still quite a bit better than us.

I'll be spitting feathers if we don't put up a decent fight for the premiership.
We've splashed the cash so there's no more excuses.

We haven't won the title since 1990, fair enough. Two seasons ago we had enough points to win the title in something like 7 of the previous 9 seasons. In 96-97, we would have won the league IMHO, except for the for the fact that we absolutely bottled it come March/April. In 02/03 we were miles ahead of everybody (12 odd points I think), having finished second the year before, and threw it away again with a ridiculous streak of results for us - we couldn't have beaten a 9 man reserve squad at home for about 13 games. If I remember correctly, we beat Arsenal at home to end this streak. Last season, most pundits said that we were the team to beat (behind Chelsea), and ****** won it. This season, let them talk about those two, if they want. Liverpool since I have followed them, and all of Rafa's teams, talk in one place, on the hollowed ground..

Well said. Since he did the dirty on us and pansied off to Real, his opinion is worth nothing to me.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I feel too many of our key players were totally off the pace, and form was a no-goer too. Our internationals well and truly had world cup hangovers.

I hope to see us hitting the ground running this season after a full pre-season and no distractions. I can see many of our more established key players all doing their part this time round. Add to that the additions to the squad and over the course of the season I can see them adding their support to the cause....I can also see Momo being a big part player this term too, he's looked in good form during pre-season so far...and a man of the match performance against Portsmouth in HK , although a little wayward at times he certainly fills me with more confidence than last season...

For me I get the feeling Voronin is will be the suprise package...I have seen him play manytimes both at club level and internationally...He's not prolific, but he scores goals... He will be good for 10/15 a season given the playing time....

I personally think we will see what sort of season we are in for after just the first 3 games. Get at least 7 points in them and we will be challenging.

I still think the scum bags will be the team to beat, the Chavs have a strong squad but what will they do when Drogba and Essien head off to the African Nations? these two players are by far the strongest they have got (and yes they are more important then Fat Frank and Spunk Face Terry).

We've strengthened well but the scum bags seem to be a step ahead in terms of creativity, they've already got match winners in Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes and Giggs and now they've added Nani, Anderson and probably Tevez, add to that they've finally bought a ball winning midfielder in Hargreaves they are looking mighty strong.

                        for me:
                        1)Man Yoo
                        2)LFC
                        3)Arsenal
                        4)Chavs
                        We come not to play.

McManaman isn't saying anything I don't agree with. We have signed 5 new players (Torres, Benayoun, Veronin, Leila (or whatever!), Babel)- of the 5 signed it looks like Torres is likely to be the only team regular from the off and even so I'm not convinced we are going to score a lot more goals than last year which is the area we most need to improve upon. It'd be great if we had 1/2 players coming through the youth team to bolster the first team but, as is, we are still behind Chelsea. Chelski will win it. ManUre cannot possibly win back to back titles with that midfield.

Can't really find fault with what McManaman is saying - just because we've improved our squad doesn't mean the others haven't improved theirs.

We have finished well out of the race for the past couple of seasons, and although I can see us finishing a lot closer this year it would take quite some turnaround for us to win it.

I don't see the problem with ex-players coming out with negative comments about our title chances - it just keeps the pressure off our boys and on the opposition.
What have I learned, Mr Mackay? Three things. One - bide your time. Two - keep your nose clean. And three - don't let the *******s grind you down

agree - i'd rather they write negative comments

as long as we maintain a challenge until march/april and are less than 10 points behind the winners i'll be happy
