He's been doing good service here for five years now. He's nearly 27 and playing better than ever. He started the season in fine form and with Dagger making Jamie's absence go almost unnoticed we've looked weakest at LB.

In the same way that our forwards have to get used to each other so do the left flank and the injuries we've got mean we will start a bit slowly again this year.

I never used to be keen on JAR at all when he first arrived. As people have said, he's just 'iffy' defensively, BUT since Rafa has been here, JAR has really begun to improve this side of his game. He's never going to be the best defender but he now holds a near perfect offside line (along with Sami, Carra and Finnan) and he is much more accurate with his tackling. He is also getting better and better with his positioning.

He's still young and he seems very comitted to the LFC cause. He'll run for us all day.

                Hmmm.

He frustrates me possibly more than any other (Garcia excepted). Good player like, runs all day, great shot, good outlet, overlaps well on the left and is very disciplined.

                However...

His right foot (or lack of one) is a ****ing disgrace to his profession. He's also a dense footballer with a total lack of a football brain. I find him a bit agricultural at times, he's slow and he is suspect defensively.

He's still one of the better LBs in the division and he's shown much better form since Rafa came. I like him and have no wish to see him leave, although I do think he's there for the taking if a better left back (don't know if that's Aurelio) comes along.

There aren't many LB around that are consistent as Riise, he is also very disciplined, and holds a great line.

Ok, he should have a right foot, and he should be cleverer on the ball at time, but he provides an excellent attacking weapon and is almost guaranteed to hit 5+ goals a season.

remember reading howhe used to run something stupid like 10 miles a morning before he went to school as all he ever wanted to be was a footballer....not surprised he is dense he probably was asleep for half the lesons!

In my eyes i rate Agger and Aurelio,u dont fix what isnt broke and with Reina,Sami,JC, Finnan & Risse we have had our best ever defensive season.
we have enough pace and skill in the team to make up for any deficiencies they have as Total footballers ....|Defenders Defend and they all do that very welland are almost telepathic in there offside calls

He is slow....so many people seem to think he's grease lightning. IMO his legs move very fast but his body doesnt if that makes sense.

If it wasnt for Zenden he'd be my least favourite player. So many of our moves break down due to JAR having to play the ball at a certain angle due to him refusing to use his right foot. Got a CRACKING shot with his left though!

So he's the personification of one of those cartoons - kinda like roadrunner - missed that!

Yeah but Roadrunner WAS grease lightning.

He doesnt have a very large stride so therefore takes more to cover the ground making him look quick.......

Im not explaining this very well am I!??

Double negatives are perfectly acceptable in the English language, the do not cancel each other out.

JAR is great, all the fans from other clubs I know think he is great. So in conclusion JAR is great.
