Anyone know where to watch the Villa game in York?

It's my wedding anniversary that weekend (Sat 11th) so my wife has booked us a weekend away in York...

She's an LFC fan too & we both want to watch the game - but if I'm with her I'd prefer a quieter place to watch it rather than a rowdy pub

Can anyone point me towards a good pub/bar where we can watch the Villa game in central York? It's on Setanta...

    Cheers
What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

I live there fella; I love the way you said "central" York, its not very big you know

The Windmill near the station (just turn right as you come out and its 2 mins walk) is the lfc pub. It can be a bit busy for some games, but hardly over-rowdy. Or the CrossKeys near the Minster is easily found and usually has our games on,. or YO10 or whatever its called now near Stonebow. There's loads of pubs in the middle of York, most of which are fine and quite a few will have the game on, personally I'd go for lfc-friendly Windmill though....

What tale shall serve me here among
    Mine angry and defrauded young?

The Windmill - Micklegate, near the bar and just down from the station is good for having a crowd.

The Cock & Bottle is a lot harder to find but is small and has great food.

The White Swan which is quite near the Minster, on Goodramgate, is another good bet (the most 'central').

The Snickleway Inn - absolutely no football, but a ****ing wonderful pub with great ale and a lovely open fire.

Just thought I have no idea whether these will have Setanta - not living in York at the minute. I think it will be easy enough to find a pub with it on in York but if you need assurances I can ask people I know there.

Unless he is blind and stupid finding nice pubs in York should not be a problem

Just stand in middle of main street and ask passersby for t'pub with t'footy.

Sorry to hijack your thread but does anyone know if there is a pub in Ballylinnan, Co. Laois that has Setanta, as I unwittingly agreed to visit the wife's uncle on the 11th.

                            York sounds so much better

Obviously there's nobody from that neck of the woods here!

                              Probably not a bad thing
