    Our chances for the title

Following on from Macca's comments in relation to the difference between ourselves and the mancs (and based on a conversation I was having elswhere). For those of you who like stats/patterns, consider the difference in points between ourselves and first place over the past 10 years:

    06/07: 21 Points
    05/06: 9 Points
    04/05: 37 Points
    03/04: 30 Points
    02/03: 19 Points
    01/02: 7 Points
    00/01: 19 Points
    99/00: 24 Points
    98/99: 25 Points
    97/98: 13 Points
    96/97: 7 Points

I can distinctly remember being excited each year we have come close to first in the league as you would expect to build and push harder the following year having come so close. If you take stats as gospel (and I don't) the question might be this, have we turned into the perrenial bridesmaids of the league? Close, but just not close enough. Macca had a point, we have had success, but we aren't winners in the same mould of the 70's or 80's teams just yet. There is still more work to be done.

It's impossible to say what our chances of winning the title are yet.
It all depends on how well the new players settle in and if our more established players can play to their potential. There's a lot of ingredients in a title winning season but one of the most important ones is "luck" and you can't tell if we're going to be lucky or not.
I think we have more chance this season than last though.

We haven't improved our side sufficiently to win the league this year.

We're a bit better than we were, but we haven't done enough to address our deficiencies that were apparent last year.

Are you a child? Your blind optimism is embarrassing.

We are quite clearly not good enough to win the league this year.

In my humble opinion we will win the league. I saw it in me tea bags. They also predicted that fergies head would explode when heinze scores the winner for us at the theatre of c u n t s.

I think we are a quality winger short of the title, someone who can create something out of nothing and scares the **** out of the opposing fullbacks.

That may be Babel in a few years time but we'll see if he fulfills his potential.

I think we have the strongest squad in the premiership but we dont have the strongest eleven.

Why not? Don't understand how people can be so pessimistic.

The scum were written off by some at this point last year.

What does concern me is Rafa's daft rotation policy. This league aint Spain where the spineless no marks roll over.

Stevie G in the middle, every week, in the league, settled 11, have a ****ing go. No more of this 4-5-1 ****e away from home against the league riff raff. They are ****, Rafa gives them too much respect. Rotate in Europe and in the cups.

Don't give a **** about the European cup or FA cup this year. It's league, league ****in league for me in that order. Fed up of seeing rent boys, frogs, mongos and scummers winning it.

If we start the season well then I firmly believe we will be challenging Manure and Chelski come May. You've got to have faith. That is the point about being a supporter.
