Crouch on new training practices

Peter Crouch has revealed the arrival of several new faces has meant Liverpool's pre-season has been less physical than usual.
The 26-year-old striker admits much of the Reds' training ground work has been centred on fine-tuning formations so the new boys fit in.

"It's been hard like any pre-season but with a lot more ball work," said Crouch, who's netted 31 goals in 97 games during two seasons at Anfield.

"Last year there was an emphasis on physical work but this year we've been doing a lot more on team shape and helping the new players fit in. We need to be right at it from the first Premier League game."

Very interesting to hear this, I have suspected that once Rafa had better players and a full pre-season he would change his tactics. The proof as Rafa has said himself is on the pitch but none the less it's good to hear.

Amazing stat really when you think he went, what was it, 20-odd games without scoring? Plus the fact he gets subbed a lot and starts a few games on the bench.

After the 20-odd games mate. Making it more like 31 goals in 75 games, i.e. 1 in every 2.5 games. Throw in the fact that he probably only played 90 minutes in about 1/3 of them and it's impressive.

Crouch's goals per minutes on the pitch record is the most accurate way of assessing his performances for LFC, given that he hardly ever plays 90 minutes.

I think the point being that Crouch's record is good and he has improved each season and with any luck he will continue to do so.

I think his league record is 17 in 64. That is not fine. I do like him and he has his uses, but let's not try and make out that he has an amazing scoring record, because he doesn't.

I'm not trying to get into an argument, but look at those other player for a minute.........

Drogba has only really had one productive season for Chelsea regarding scoring goals. I wouldn't put Rooney into the bracket of 25 goals a season either. So if these two teams can perform so well without their strikers really banging the goals away...........why do we need a "Michael Owen" all of a sudden.

his goal scoring record is better than drogba's when you compare apples with apples though. what would make it amazing?
