Would be nice to have some home friendlys, even if its for chumps like me that find it difficult to get a leauge game ticket. Would be good to go to anfield and see us do over someone.

I only really get there once or twice a season.
    *Except Michael, who died.

Playing friendlies away from Anfield also gives the pitch a better chance to recover properly.
      Never knowingly optimistic

I agree. Charity Sheild weekend (the years we are not in it) we should have a glamour tie at home. I reckon once we've got the new stadium we'll be holding a tournament ala Arsenal this year.

In that case we shouldn't play the last week of October as that is the best time of year for grass to recover/repair.

I went to the home friendly against Valencia a few years back, and the one against Inter Milan a couple of years before that - both games were pretty much sold out and the atmosphere was good - seemed to be a fairly good idea at the time.

What were the attendances like for Arsenal's Emirates Cup this year? (I didn't see any of it televised so genuinely don't know)

I would have though organising some friendlies against meaningful opposition on home soil would be a good idea as opposed to training runs against the likes of Wrexham (no offence obv.)

A tournament like that at Anfield would sell out in no time.

They wont make anywhere near as much money as going to Asia and other countries around the world. While people here may well go, by going to different countries we are promoting the brand and making more money and that is what it is all about. Money or fans wanting to see Torres before the league starts. Fans lose every time.

I'm not saying don't tour Aisa or America etc. we need to continuallty riase the clubs profile and brand all round the world. But instead of playing the Rotterdam tounament we could have played Real Madrid/Barcelona/Milan etc at home taht weekend or even held our own tournament ala Arsenal.

How about for next season a 'City of Culture' tournament at Anfield with clubs from previous Cities of Culture?

Nice idea but I'm not sure about the quality of teams coming from Thessaslonika, Weimar or Cork.

They're probably a step up from Wrexham though.
