    Nicked from RAWK:

In an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais following Liverpool’s 2-0 win in the opening game of the Rotterdam tournament, Fernando Torres spoke of his hopes and wishes for the new season.

The Liverpool striker was happy with his goal and performance versus Shanghai Shenshua, though feels that: "I am going to have to adapt to playing as the last striker. My new role requires me to employ more direct runs towards goal. I also still have some trouble understanding my team-mates when they talk on the pitch, especially as things move so fast, though Liverpool are a great team and it is important that their new players adapt quickly to their style of play.”

The language barrier though was not a problem in Friday’s game, as he linked up well with his team-mates and scored his first goal for his new club. "With each passing day I realise just how special Liverpool and their fans are. I did not come here for the money, but for the chance of winning silverware. Everything we do, both in Europe and abroad, like for example our recent trip to Asia, is in all the papers and on television, and this shows just how important Liverpool are.”

Fernando Torres’ new team have their sights set this season on adding to the silverware at Anfield, and there is one trophy that all the squad really want to win: “The players all desire the league title because for many it is the only trophy they are missing.”

The Spanish striker has yet to play in front of his home crowd and cannot wait to take his first steps on the famous Liverpool pitch: "I am very excited at the prospect of playing at Anfield”.

Interesting to see that he has changed his style of play. This means he will be the striker that is furthest forward. I always thouht he would be the 2nd striker for some reason.

Im surprised too, I just presumed Kuyt would be furtherst striker up the pitch with Torres behind. Not arsed though as long as we win the league

So this means, whenever Torres and Kuyt are paired together, that Dirk will still be doing his Momo impression in the centre circle.

So much for this "new advanced role" so many people have been talking about.

I still hope that with a pacy partner he will be more advanced. Last season teams found it easy to push up at times as we played so deep with no pace to frighten them. I hope that movement from Benayoun and Torres will change this and allow us to bring Kuyt further up the pitch. I think that it is obvious that Rafa is looking to be slightly more attacking this year which will in general result in us trying to play further up the pitch. We sill probably go through a transition phase where we still play too deep though.

I hope we get stuck in in the first game against Villa in a way we haven't in any of the friendlies. I think Man United showed the way last year - start hard and fast and then relax in the second half when 2-0 up.

Im pleased that Torres will be the most advanced striker, playing just off the last defender, lets be honest thats what hes in the team for, to bang in the goals. he makes some great little runs, the likes of which we havent had since Owen. Im sure once Gerrard and Alonso get in sync with him they will start to play him in one on one just like Benayoun did the other day.

I think Kuyt should play left back instead of Riise.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                  Arbeloa to move upfront?

spot on, in fact, we should swap the two, riise probably has a better shot/goal ratio, although i think at times he only gives 107%

                      ****ing classic

I agree. All we have to do is not be arsed and make zero critical comments until it is mathematically impossible to win the league.

                      Wonder who will break first
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

It's deceptive. He sometimes looks like he's not giving the full 110% but that's because he's playing uphill.

Riise is also faster than Kuyt over that crucial first 23 centimetres.

I could beat anyone in a 23cm race, I just look at a picture of Jessica Alba.
