I really think worrying about the ref is for the Evertons of this world.
The referees in the PL in my opinion are generally unbiased and try their best. They are however human and as such the pressure and the reputations of top players will result in big teams being favoured slightly season in season out. As a big team I think it is a bit rich to moan about referees in general and have a suspicion that neutrals will have a different view to us about these big decisions which have gone against us consistently in the past according to some.
Specific instances of a referee having a bad match which affected us is different obviously."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

but bottom line - refs in the EPL arent good enough - end of
they diminish the product, theyre a negative, one of the worst things about the very best sport.
some people like the randomness factor of having a single muppett racing around after 20 pro athletes trying to make evey correct call from a single angle. I dont. I want the best (and fairest) team to be rewarded.
Id rather have a slower game with a stopping clock and less controversial decisions.
the nfl - whilst a hugely different sport, and not without referreeing errors/controversiies of its own, is by far the best referreed sport ive seen. we have masses to learn from them.drunk knows best

I'm in favour of changes to the way matches are officiated but I think slowing down the game would take away something from the sport.Originally posted by enema of the state View Postnot a totally unfair point mate

I would like to see rules such as offside simplified and ideally made physically possible for the officials to see all necessary areas. Watching the man running + the one passing + working out what phase of play everything happened in is a ridiculously difficult task and even in replays people often disagree about the interpretation.
I also think that we could do with a change to the way advantage is played to make it less completely random. Possibly having a presribed time limit when the offended against team can call for the freekick if they get no advantage.
I think additional assistants with more prescribed roles would also be benificial.
Overall I would like to see FIFA/UEFA trial some innovations to see the level of impact and to see which changes are worth applying. As it is they seem resistant to do anything but ludicrous alterations of the 'interpretations' of the rules."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
