Do you all think that the summer spending spree is so uninspiring as to have such a minimal impact on our first eleven?
I think that we need to start with a familiar team and to bring in the new signings slowly. Disrupting the team is not a great plan IMO. Also to be honest most of the summer signings are competing for the same 4 places so it is not likely we would see many of them in any individual team.

Can't see torres starting - matbe a sub but not from the off - I think he will blood him slowly over the next few weeks along with Voronin. I think babel will be lucky to get a start between now and the end of the month

torres has to start, i can't take a none scoring striker partnership anymore, kuyt and crouch together would kill me...

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Could be wrong about this but I dont understand how so many people are overlooking Mascher. Away and first game of the season, I think he will be Rafas first name on the team sheet.

I would be interested to see a formation with our 11 best players..:

                    Reina

                    Finnna Carra Agger Heinze

                    Masch

                    Sissoko Alonso

                    Gerrard

                    Torres Babel
I like the look of that team.Strong all over.It would take alot of beating
Oh the man is a midfield maestro

Thing is he hasn't had much of a pre-season due to the Copa America. I'm not sure he's up to speed yet.

I think he'll be used somewhat sparingly for the first month or so.

But he disrupts the team from match to match, making an average of 3 changes per game. So why not 3 changes from season to season.

I don't see the disruption case really when we have a manager who believes in rotation. Not that I'm knocking rotation, more pointing out that disruption isn't really a factor in the way it might be for a more settled eleven.

Personally, if everyone picked your first eleven I don't see that it's that much stronger than last years. There's more depth yes, but I'd hope for more than just depth.
