i'd say perhaps pederson would be the best direct freekick taker now in the league

I rate Giggs and Van Persie to be honest. I think Lampard is a shocking free kick taker, but his technique works as he gets goal although most are via deflections.

The best for me would probably be Gareth Bale.

Babel looked better yesterday, I remain unconvinced at the price tag but considering the lack of quality we have in wide positions - which was frequently on evidence in the game - we have to be thankful for small mercies.

Torres I liked, he should have bagged a goal but the way he glides across the surface is something we've not really had from any of our strikers for a while.

I think that goatee makes him look like Keith from the Office.

Agree on your thoughts on Torres. I just love the fact that he is the 'perfect' striker. Tall and quick. His pace and close control impressed me the most yesterday. He didn't need to kick the ball 10 yards in front and run. Oozed class

If we win the league, he should never be allowed to shave it off. It's as simple as that.

he should keep it till we lose at home.

The way Torres recieves the ball whilst on the move is excellent. His first touch controls the ball and (at the same time) moves it into position so that he can continue his run. I think we've got a good 'un here.

i think the fact that we dominated an away match (against a poor villa team TBH) is the best thing from the match.

i think rafa used riise on the left of midfield cos it was away from home and i think we will have to wait till the next home game after the chavs to see his real attacking lineup.
Im only on here for silly season

the rest of the time im too stressed

A couple of seasons ago (when he got 23 goals) he scored a few humdingers.

One in particular vs Pompey would have killed anyone who got in the way of it. For some reason he didn't take so many last year?

When he hits free kicks like that you do wonder why our corners are so useless.

Is that a positive or a negative?
                          .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

We didn't make another lukewarm start to the year and draw a game we should have won. Hopefully it sets the tenor for the season and our difficulties here are a thing of the past

We attacked away from home and played to win as opposed to playing to avoid defeat

We played some silky football at times and the new kids look promising

                            -
We flirted with disaster and it was a fine line. I'd like to think we'll convert our chances better as the season goes on and not leave ourselves open to 0-0 or 1-1 against ill-deserving opponents because of our own deficiencies in front of goal

A positive is that after the peno we didn't just put our tail between our legs. We went on a scored a winner...very Manchester United that

Except maybe that Serbian bloke, I think he used to play for Lazio. He never seemed to be the nicest of blokes (I remember him having to issue a public apology for racially abusing another player) but he really could hit a free-kick.
