Crouch will be used mainly at Anfield this season, aswell as selected other games and will also be used as a weapon fro the bench.
Rafa thought Villa away was a game where we needed pace for counters. He was right. he nearly always is.
Same reason Benayoun was left at home. Expect to see a lot of him at anfield. benayoun to open up compact and deep defenses at anfield and Crouchy as another angle of attACK. If they want to drop deep and smother our intricate play, fire it in direct to crouch and gather round for knockdowns.
Oh, and Crouch is not 4th choice, he will get as many games as Kuyt and mor ethan Voronin.
Dunno what the score is with Alex/Chelsea, but he played for PSV against us at Anfield last season and Crouch played well and scored in a 2-0 win.
He's signed up. Saw him leaving the Bridge yesterday on a bus. (on SSN that is)
As for who said crouchy can't deal against big centre halves, didn't he destroy Kolo Toure at Anfield last season? And didn't Mourinho say he'd be a handful for Terry and Caravalho?
I can see Torres and Gerrard behind him lining up against the Chavs. Torres to stretch the back line of Terry and Carvalho and Gerrard to use his power and genius to control the attack. Babel on the right this time, no Pennant.
Feel sorry for Crouch really, he seems to always score when he actually gets a chance to start. Having said that, Torres has to start and he linked up well with Kuyt so who knows...
Still, nice to have 4 good options up there, for a change.
Difficult to say until they play together. DK and FT looked very good at Villa. Kuyt's movement and workrate is far superior to Crouch's, but Crouch will actually PLAY up front, as opposed to all over the place like Kuyt.

Crouchy is brilliant at holding up the ball and actually finding his man with his flicks (unlike heskey was) as well as having great vision. I just think that with Torres sniffing around him, Crouchy will create LOADS of oppurtunities to score.
. Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
