Stevie should keep number eight because we will sell more shirts in Asia that way because number eight is the lucky number there.

I would give number seven to Lucas.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I think that the number seven should be reserved for someone who has proved themselves at the club. If we are going to hold it to have some value we should have people to earn it. In fact I think the first 11 numbers should have the same criteria. Players new to the club should be given the impression that their reputation means nothing if they don't prove their ability with us.

It is his number. We will only recognise him as a true legend when he hangs up his boots for Liverpool.

Cant think of anyone who stands out for no. 7.

Give it to Kaka when we sign him next summer.

              Well I can dream can't I?

He's the only player out there who'd be worthy IMO.

I have this on good authority ( and no I wont tell you who lol)

When Kewell signed, there were those at the club who thought it would help Smicer to be relieved of the #7 shirt.............. it was felt that the pressure to perform and live up to the shirt was affecting his game

sadly it didnt work out that way................. or did it in 2005?

At Liverpool you need players who as well as having skill are mentally strong to live with the expectations that we subject them to
Lawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"

Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"

Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Two names spring to mind. Stevie G and Babel. Stevie for obvious reasons, but Babel because he seems to have all the same tools in his armoury that the King had. If he continues to progress then maybe he will earn it.
Frankly I'm against all this nonsense. A number's just a number and no number has ever made a player play better. It's even less relevant now when squad numbers give no indication, in many cases, of where a player actually plays. When I was young a number 7 denoted - with no argument - that the wearer was the outside right in the team, in other words an orthodox right-side winger, which Dalglish of course never was. A shirt number means nothing now and only our younger fans would only link Dalglish with that number. For me it always recalls Ian Callaghan - a proper orthodox right-winger for the first half of his career incidentally

Players should wear the right numbers.Reina 1,Finnan 2,Riise 3,Carra is a perfect 4 and Gerrard 10 and alonso 7.Torres has 9 which is correct.
Kewell and Voronin should not be wearing 7 and 10.
It should be something special to wear them and should be an indication of who your top men are. It's football after all not Basketball.
Makes me sick sometimes to see it
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Malouda does look good, but he made his intentions clear that he wanted to join Chelski and if a player doesnt want to play for us then bye bye........
