What were you expecting,a barnstorming 5-0 win when they still have to come to Anfield?.

Suffer in the heat,LOL,1-0 at a canter.

        Damn! It was 36 degrees!!!???

If you run too much in that heat it leaves you severely dehydrated.

        tough game.

        professional performance.

Decent performance from the team, considering the heat we did more than enough. Rafa killed off the game when he put Sissoko and Riise on and the French never looked dangerous.

Agreed, but none of the others cost £11.5m.He really needs to show some kind of ability.I am desperate to see this guy play but until now he really has been less than average i'm afraid.

Babel and Yossi have a lot of improving to do if they are to justify their transfer fees. Babel did show the odd bit of skill and pace today but so far I've seen nothing to suggest he's an improvement on Pennant or even as good as Pennant. And I don't particularly rate Pennant as it is.

He should some good touches early on, but once we scored we just sat back and I don't think that helped him. He has also just arrived and you expect he'll take some time to settle.

I was relatively pleased with his performance in his first competative 90 minutes for the club. He was always looking for the ball, went past players, laid some decent balls off (one of which Gerrard maybe should have done better from) and tracked back quite well.

Lyon had a man sent off aswell.
Not to take anything away from the lads though, I would have jumped all over a 1-0 before the game had it been offered to me.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                        Typical European performance.

Get the goal, break the play down and keep possession when you can. Job done.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
