    Gerrard overhyped by media?

Read the whole post b4 over reacting to the title you numpties

Obviously he is our most important player (in terms of everything on and off the pith and leadership) and he is a monster of a player but I find it very ****ing irritating hearing the broken record that is the line "once again, gerrard single handedly saves Liverpool" It's ****ing ridiculous and faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from the truth. Obviously.

They go on as if we're a one man team or something and it really ****ing pisses me off. I mean the likes of Carra 'saves' us more than Gerrard but it goes un noticed half the time.

I don't agree that we are a one-man team by any means, but what I think neutral fans see, is that it is always Gerrard who grabs a game by the scruff of the neck when we are playing poorly and gets us back into games with a piece of brilliance.

We need more of our attacking and midfield players to step up to the plate instead of Gerrard to dispel this myth.

We are not the same team without Gerrard or Carra - they are the very heartbeat of Liverpool IMO.

The thing is that last season Manure had a similar situation with Ronaldo, but they never got the same complaints from the media about having one man save them.

I've been furious about this since Saturday.

The wanky media gave it the usual "Gerrard rescues Liverpool yet again" as though we should ****ing APOLOGISE for having a brilliant player in our team.

What's the problem? He's a brilliant footballer, and he's part of our team. He does what he's so handsomely paid to do - play ****ing brilliant football.

When Ronaldo scored a last-minute winner (one of his 20 odd from midfield) for the Mancs at Fulham last season, the press cream their trousers with cries of "MAGICAL RONALDO!" and "UNITED ON TITLE TRACK AFTER CRISTIANO CRACKER!". It's all in positive terms.

With us and Gerrard, they use it as a stick to beat us with. What's the ****ing problem?

Yep, You never hear about the way Alonso controls the game which leads us to create the chances for gerrard etc etc.

To a certain extent every English player is overhyped by the media. Its the same in other countries aswell, there are always 'golden boys' i.e. Raul, Maldini

after yesterday's match I think we are too reliant on Voronin.

in fact I think we are far too reliant on the player who gets us the winner in every match we play, it's a serious problem.

Gerrard is our most important player, no ****, he would be the most important player in any team in the world, luckily he's one of ours.

It is like we should feel bad for having a genuinely world class player in our team that can single handedly win games. I think we should tell Gerrard to stop being so selfish with his brilliance and share it around the team - let someone else be there hero for once ffs!

But every top team in Europe is in the same position: Barca with Ronnie, Milan with Kaka, Manure with Ronaldo etc etc.

A Chelsea fan at work tries to wind me up by calling us "Team Gerrard". I like to respond by questioning if we are a one man team how come 11 of their players couldn't stop him in two CL semi finals. I Also mention how ****e they were/are without Terry.

But at the end of the day Liverpool fans know the truth - we have plenty of players who greatly contribute - Carra, Alonso, Pepe (with all his clean sheets), Zenden etc.

well said. alonso plays the classic central midfield role but for some reason he just seems to get criticised for it these days. not enough spectacular long range passes i suppose. other teams best players seem to get called "their biggest threat" or whatever. with gerrard the media always seem to say how he gets us out of trouble rather than being "their biggest threat".

We really are a bunch of sensitive souls aren't we? I've been buzzing since the start of the season, not 'furious' because of a few lazy headlines.

Gerrard is arguably our only world class player and English to boot. The media are the same with Rooney, I mean someone said the other day they compared him to Pele in the world cup... and Rooney won. FFS.

Personally if anything I think Gerrard is a bit UNDERhyped. Most of my mates stilll keep droning on about how he doesnt perform in the big matches. Even when I cite the Champions League Final 2005 they still say "oh yeah but he was ****e in the first half!" You just cant win.

I think we are still a bit of a one man team, but I think if he played for Chelsea or Man Utd he would stand out above all thier players almost as much, the lad is just that good.

Lets stop worrying about the hype and just thanks our lucky stars we still have him in our team.
