Johnson won't play with Terry back. The one player they will miss is Essien who is still 50/50 to play anyway. Chelsea will still be very strong. Anyone thinking they are on the slide is deluding themselves. They may have been ****e in the first half against Reading but when they changed formation they were very progressive. It's going to take Liverpool playing at their very best to beat the Chavs.

Well it'll either be Johnson or a non-right back playing at RB. Win-win situation there.Originally posted by Red_Al_77 View PostJohnson won't play with Terry back. Unless they manage to complete the signing, registration and international clearance of Alves before Sunday...which would be a sickener.

Played last night but I agree not impressive. Johnson came on and actually played in the centre. Had one good header.

I don't understand why people are so concerned about Alves. There's no denying he's good going forward but I don't think he'll make Chelsea's defense more solid ala Gallas when he used to play at left back. I don't think's he's much better than Riise, infact I think he's worse particularly when it comes to positioning.Originally posted by DJS View PostWell it'll either be Johnson or a non-right back playing at RB. I think he's very good, but regardless of that, he's definitely better than what they've got at RB now.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostI don't understand why people are so concerned about Alves. Yep, indeed I agree.Originally posted by DJS View PostI think he's very good, but regardless of that, he's definitely better than what they've got at RB now.
To say he isn't as good as Riise (this from another lad on this thread) is absolutely bonkers. When has Riise given a startling performance at LB? OK, he scores a gem of a goal at times, but his game isn't there at this moment. It's good we are after Heinze, at least he has running power and knows how to play LB

I was comparing their defensive qualities and in my opinion Alves is not much better than Riise if at all.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostYep, indeed I agree.

Going forward I agree Alves is better though.

I've never seen alves defend, he always leaves that to the right sided CH. Definitely something we can exploit.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostI was comparing their defensive qualities and in my opinion Alves is not much better than Riise if at all.

I think he's light years ahead of Riise. He's a more cultured player, and he can beat people with guile rather than just kick and rush. Defensively I'm not sure, I don't think he's much more positionally sus if he's worse at all. He is a surprisingly tenacious little ****er, definitely a better tackler than Riise IMO. Cracking little player. Will be seriously ****ed off if he joins that shower as is no expected.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostI don't understand why people are so concerned about Alves.
