Look Lads & Lasses...............I don't post much these days so make the most of it.
To start the post with on a positive note.........At the start of this season I can't help feeling we are for once a strong team. All of our players (either first eleven or otherwise) seem to be of a reasonable standard even if they are not all proven in the premiership.
When you get a moment take a look at the bench players of all of the teams within the league..............I would suggest that even the other "top" teams would struggle to prove they have a stronger squad.
I am bouyed by our wining start to the season............even if not by the way we missed out on adding to our first goal at Villa until the last ten minutes. Nevertheless it makes for a nice warm glow at present and with Terry & Essien injured I was looking forward to Sunday.
That said of course it now looks like Terry might be back on Sunday........but I would still argue that it might be a good time to face him, as he has not played an actual game for a while. Plus if Carvalho is now out we still might have to face an unfamilar back four.
With regard to ur new boys.....Babel has looked useful, although I thought he struggled during the pre season games...................not that they are always a useful guideline. I do however still feel we are without real width on the left and for me this question still hasn't been answered...........and no I don't think Kewell is the answer.
For me we still need a player for this postion......................so many teams will this season play with eleven behind the ball and we will need wide players to get behind them or run at them. I get the feeling we should of sold off a star asset Central Midfielder (possibly Xabi or Momo) and splashed out on a worldclass wingman.
Torres on the other hand, in my opinion at least, still looks a little lost and I fear he's progress will depend on him getting a couple of lucky breaks in front of goal. Both of them pose for me the biggest questions........ and I still feel that Torres will take time to adjust to playing with Kuyt & Crouch etc...
Of course a goal against the Chavs might help there........but my second question is this................with the Chelski game fast approaching is Torres really the player to start? Should he play with Crouch (our top goal scorer last season) or should Crouch play with Kuyt (our top goal scorer in the league last season.)
Finally my last question surrounds selection and it comes mainly from the game against the Villa last weekend............. Why if we are playing wide players like Penant did we not play Crouch & Kuyt and why did we then consequently play Crouch with Yossi? Wouldn't he suit Torres style of play better?
Well maybe I have more questions than answers...........maybe Rafa knows more than he lets on...........?
All I can finish on is strap yourselves in........its gonna be one hell of a ride

Come on you reds
