I like Lec's posts they are often measured and quite readable.

I know there are people who like to pretend to be insiders and I have often heard the comment that there are no insiders really. However, I have to say that virtually every major target over the past year has been announced on the net forums before the press picked it up. Alves, Fowler, Kuyt, Bellamy, Agger, Gonzales, Pennant and now Lucas Neill...every one was on the boards before anyone in the press picked up. Pennant was called back in January, Fowler a month before it happened!

So I know you take some stick on these boards from time to time but I would like to say genuine insiders....I salute you!! Thanks for the info

Credit to me and Speedy, who reported our interest in Lucas Neill nearly two weeks ago, with a different source to Dave Usher's.. Dave Usher i think actually reported it first, but he doesn't count.

but think of the type of players we are talking about. I don't reckon anyone would have guessed at Pennant, Neill, Fowler or Kuyt beforehand if they didn't know something. They are not the players that we would have expected. IMO when people pluck names out of the air they pick star names, unavailables really. Let say Torres, and when it doesn;t happen then we can say the money was an issue etc etc

Maybe. But the amount of people who see players in boozers and get chatting to them and then they say they are moving to Liverpool is astounding. So if youre going to make that type of story up, you'd pick players who would go out on the Ale. Joey Barton and even Joe Cole have been mentioned in this way. So Pennant and even Fowler arent past the guess work stage with that in mind are they? As far as I know the first person to mention Neill was ES and his info is as reliable as it gets and Lecter had been banging on about Kuyt for ages, and since I know where he gets his info from thats another one that is practically from the top.

the pennant and kuty thing were in the papers before people had so called insider knowledge pennant was linked as soon as city went down and kuyt has been mentioned for over a year now, as with fowler that was a surprise and i don`t think anyone had mentioned it until the day before the neill thing had only been mentioned in the last week or so and i dunno if anyone had called that before the papers got hold of it

I sa Pennant mentioned as far back as December long before they went down. Kuyt was also mentioned on the boards way before the press

Kuyt was first mentioned as far back as Dec 2004 when we were on the look out for another striker and Real Madrid were proving difficult over Morientes.

There were 7, posted on the day before Cisse got injured against China. They were:

Gonzalez, Aurelio, Pennant, Alves, Aimar, Defoe, Paletta.

So 4 out of 7. To be fair to him there were rumours that the Cisse sale breaking down meant we had financial constraints which meant we went for Bellamy rather than Aimar and Defoe.

Pennant AND Alves though. And 3 of the 4 he named were already known about.

I actually wonder if he was told a load of bollocks by his source - perhaps they're onto him?!
