I'm just venting .. but this man annoys me .. every time he is in charge of a game you know what you are in for and its dangerous for our players as well, The game boils over, tackles start to fly in. Reminds my of that other plonker Renne the black dude who was around awhile ago and the other prick who had his own ****ing agent ...

I notice the pundits seem to be overlooking Chelsea's tactics to pressurise the referee, the obvious and insidious plan to label Torres a diver, their cynical, negative approach to the match, etc. Styles is weak and inept but Mourinho is baneful.

Gotta so I wasn't overly enamoured with the Guardian write up of the game. Which although pointing some of these things out, never really went far enough in condemning those tactics.

Having said that I'm yet to see anything but the penalty incident, so i'll have to reserve some judgement....

Hackett goes on tv to take the flack in Styles place and Styles gets a week off. Yep, that punishment definitely seems to fit the crime.

Styles is a spineless ****. Refused Sky's invitation to explain himself yesterday and gets his boss to go on tv in his place today.

chelsea have been doing that for a couple of seasons now, and they're not the only ones. football needs to follow the rugby example and make it so that only the captains can talk to the referee. it'll stop all this crowding and harassing that's going on and put the onus on the team captain to keep his players disciplined.

what galls me about the penalty was that styles was right there in front of it and still got it wrong. there was hardly any appeals for the spot kick from the chelsea players and practically the entire stadium saw it as it played out, yet somehow styles saw a completely different scenario?

He let his boss come out and deflect some of the heat off him first though didn't he? Should have come out yesterday after the game and explained himself when Sky gave him the chance.

I would have liked to have heard his explanation of what exactly he thought he saw though because I'm sure only he and Mourinho of all the people watching saw any possible infringement.

There was an angle on the slow-mos that only showed the later part of the collision and if, as I assume Styles did, you missed Malouda's jump, the second part of the action did looks as though he'd been challenged. I think Styles was looking at the ball and missed the initial movement. I don't even think Malouda was looking for a pen, I think he was trying to make sure Finnan didn't get to the ball.

Hope this results in a few soft penalties going our way over the season.
