The most sad thing is that not a word from the PL that sounds like Styles will be banned so he will probably be in action this week as normal

I wish they could get balls and act against the most rotten team in football but that will never happen, thay make even Juve look like angels.

I think what clubs would like to see referees do is get the big decisions correct. I don't mind if he gets a throw in or a goal kick wrong but when it comes to red cards and penalties, he has to be 100% correct- he should use the linesman if he is uncertain and I always say you can base your big decisions on players reactions- no Chelsea fan was wanting a penalty, Drogba who is one of the biggest moaners didn't anything, the lads carried on and it was a terrible decision. I think we have another Graham Poll on our hands.

THE referee who sparked a storm by awarding Chelsea a dodgy penalty on Sunday also paved Blues owner Roman Abramovich’s DRIVE.

Rob Styles, whose decision let Chelsea sneak a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, is on the board of builders Oakwood Groundworks Ltd.

The company was paid a five-figure sum for work at billionaire Abramovich’s 440-acre country estate last summer.

Styles, 43, has been dropped as a ref for this weekend’s Premier League matches following his apparent howler that drew furious protests from Liverpool.

He ruled that Liverpool’s Steve Finnan upended Chelsea’s Florent Malouda, although TV replays suggested Malouda dived. Frank Lampard then levelled the scores from the penalty spot.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez said of Styles: “Only he can explain — but he will not be able to explain properly.”

Trained surveyor Styles’s interests outside soccer have made him a millionaire. His firm was sub-contracted to rebuild Abramovich’s drive by a company drafted in by estate managers.

He declined to comment. But his conduct was fully backed by his refereeing body last night.

A Professional Game Match Officials spokesman said: “Rob made the PGMO aware his company was undertaking work for E A Chiverton, a company sub-contracted to work on one of Mr Abramovich’s properties.

“The PGMO investigated this at the time and was entirely satisfied that no conflict of interest existed. We do not think this is an issue. We have discussed this with Rob Styles and are entirely happy. It would be entirely wrong to impune his integrity as a referee.”

Oakwood Groundworks, based in Waterlooville, Hants, re-paved the drive at Abramovich’s £12million estate Fyning Hill, near Rogate, West Sussex.

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho had a public bust-up with Styles last year over decisions in which Chelsea were denied penalties.

But the row is understood to have been patched up when the ref called Mourinho to apologise.

Lampard should have been sent off for kicking out on Alonso, a very clear red card.

The two yellow cards for Essien, yes he got two yellows whatever Styles or anyone has said after the game.

The Chelsea walls who was standing four-five yards from the ball at every dangerous freekick and Styles did nothing about it.Mikel stamping on Torres, another clear red card.

So he missed at least three red cards and gave them a penalty.

That is just to many things for him not being bribed IMO.

I can understand that refs can have a bad day but then he gives bad decisions both ways and not in only one way.

The bit in bold i have to agree with. There were 2 (at least) that were in very dangerous positions. The first was 8 yards max, the second 6, virtually making it impossible.

did it look intentional?

think i saw fatarse kick out at xabi but it looked like handbags from where i was sat.

i think the FA need to retrospectively book divers and suspend players who swamp the ref when he is trying to do his job. chelsea made it very difficult for the ref to make objective decisions on sunday..

The thing that concerns me about the whole thing is it happened in our backyard, by which i mean you can understand certain decisions going against you away from home ( old toilet being prime example ), where the fans are on the refs back the whole game but to have that amount go against us at Anfield is amazing. I can't for one minute believe he's that inept at his job and if he is then he should never ref a game again.
