Failure to beat Sunderland on Saturday would piss me off more than anything that happened today. It's absolutely vital we go there and win.

Essentially though Syd, I agree, we've got the squad to win the title. If not this season, next.

      We'll beat Sunderland.

Of the next 6 league games, the only one we might not win is Pompey.

The other 5 are nailed on IMO.

And as for home games, we're immensely strong at home.

Could do without that annoying CL 2nd leg, mind.

UEFA should just award us the win without playing the game, by virtue of us being completely superb at home.

Agree totally. They should even reimburse us monies lost from not having to play it.

17 years of false dawns have ripped so much belief away, but for the first time in over a decade, i feel that we actually have a REAL genuine chance.

More crucially, there doesnt look to be one OUTRIGHT favourite that sticks out ahead of the other three, of the top four, i genuinely see no reason why we couldnt do it.

Rafa has done some INCREDIBLE work with the squad, the depth and quality is amazing.

Our 16 today was SO strong, and we still had the likes of Momo, Voronin, Insua, Aurelio, Benayoun (off the top of my head) not being used. Absolutely terrific strength in depth.

Our squad, along with Chelsea's, is the strongest. United need more up front, and Arsenal just dont have enough quality, in the first team OR on the bench.

It's there for us, it really is.

The key thing will be the away mentality, we HAVE to go out to win away. Games like Villa, which we approached correctly, games like Sunderland which we MUST go and win.

I'm not exaggerating when i say this, but we have a BRILLIANT side, a VERY strong squad and if we get Heinze, there's depth and quality EVERYWHERE, and no weaknesses that i can see.

The only worry is if we were to lose Torres or Gerrard (or Carra) for any length of time. But the same worries exist for Chelsea, with Drogba, Terry and Lampard, for United with Rooney, Ronaldo and Rio, and for Arsenal with RvP and Fabregas.

But seriously, i genuinely feel very positive. At home, we're almost unplayable.

Should've won today and to be frank, there's no reason why we cant win as many as 16 or 17 home games out of 19.

The away form will be key, but in Torres, we have a forward who can produce that explosive bit of class to turn 1 point into 3 when we've not played well.

It's absolutely essential that we keep him fit.

But overall, we're a monster of a side, and if we have that bit of luck and adopt the right WINNING mentality, it really is there for us this season.

I fecking love seeing how strong we've become.

              Rafa's a genius
Youve said what ive been thinking.
With the squad we have, the determination and togetherness that can be clearly seen amongst all the lads, i really think we could come close this year.
As you correctly say, away form is the key.
I really dont want to say anymore at this stage, too many false dawns and that, but there seems to be a good vibe about us already this season.

We should be seeing clearer in 10 matches if we have the consistency to last the pace, but it's still too early days. We undoubtedly have the quality, and more so when the new players will have bedded in fully.

Chelsea will be clocking in points, no matter if they play badly, as it's been the case yesterday. The league will be tougher this year with middle table clubs improving, clubs such as Blackburn, Man.City, Everton, Spurs etc ...

We need to get more clinical with our finishing. We should have been 2-3 up before they got that peno. But honestly winning our 1st game and drawing with the chavs to end up on 4 points from 2 games is not a bad start to the season, especially with the Mancs and Arsenal also dropping points.

And there was me thinking I was 'complacent' for saying we could beat Toulouse without most of our first-teamers....Sunderland is a tough game, Keane will be more up for it than ever especially after Wigan did them at the weekend. I'll be happy with any kind of win there

I want to the spine of the 1st choice team play as the next 6 games, the odd bit of rotation up front, but keep as much of the back four and midfield as possible.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
