    Bring back Heighway!

Looks like the recent influx of youngsters will pay dividends.

There was disappointment for Liverpool Under-18s when they lost their opening game of the Academy season after a 5-0 defeat at Aston Villa.

Liverpool played well in the first half and after a succession of missed chances the young Reds found themselves 1-0 down at half time, but unfortunately a second half defensive collapse saw Villa take full advantage.

Reds Under-18 manager Hughie McAuley said: "It is disappointing for everybody concerned to lose a match 5-0 and it's a kick up the backside for the players.

"The players are developing but they know the standard that is required here. We will work hard this week in training before our next game against Sunderland at the Academy on Saturday.

"We were in the game in the first half but we didn't take our opportunities. Villa scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of the second half and things then just went from bad to worse for us."

Does anyone know where to find line-ups and other stats for youth team games? The offal don't seem to have anything other than the above report. I'd like to keep a keener eye on the kids this year given all those foreign imports. Here's the list of Academy players:

    Astrit Ajdarevic
    Mattone Awang
    Michael Collins
    Gary MacKay-Steven
    Shane O'Connor
    Ben Parsonage
    Michael Scott
    David Amoo
    Dean Bouzanis
    Nathan Eccleston
    Sean Highdale
    Steven Irwin
    Alex Kacaniklic
    Joe Kennedy
    Chris Oldfield
    Marvin Pourie

No offence to you two but this thread was more fun when Shaggy was talking to himself.
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

neigbours son looks to be a good prospect -
family all Liverpool fans so when they had the choice re Liverpool or United you'd think Liverpool but after visitng both set ups choose the dark side as Liverpool was dissorganised and a shambles. This was 2 years ago granted so could be better now.
Its times like these we learn to live again FF

'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
                  It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
                  Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'
