Surely Rafa knows more about the ins-&-outs of this whole situation than any of us do and there is clearly something in this that makes him feel it necessary to comment on the situation in this way. I appreciate his bottle and his willingness to speak his mind. In this respect he is to be commended. You can take whatever slant you want on this and it the simple way to look at is that he's whinging but if he just stood in the shadows and said 'fair enough' there would be people baying for him.

This 'no nonsense' straightforward approach is consistent with his footballing philosophy and the fact that he covets players that want to play for this team, it is no suprise he reacted in this way to the judgement.

As I said, there is more to this than we know about and fair play to Rafa for pushing it to the limit. Even if all this may have been a charade to show that the EPL suits are favouring some teams over others it can only benefit the majority of clubs out there.

Seige mentality. That is what it is all about. It builds team spirit.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Very strange if you ask me - the thought of us doing something like that crossed my mind but there's approximately 1000 more plausible clubs for us to do that with than Palace

As for Rafa's comments, go for it gaffer I say. People used to accuse him of not seeming to care enough, couldn't say that now could they? As others have pointed out, all the other top 3 managers regularly come out with stuff like this, it's not 'embarrassing' it's part of the modern game.

And don't anyone tell me 'but we're LFC etc'

Thats quite an outburst from Rafa, its unlike him. Personally, I dont like excuses and by the sound of it he's trying to find some so if things go tits up he can say this and that. Houllier in his last 2 seasons was full of silly excuses, bad pitch this and bad weather that.
Rafa always dealt with things in a dignified manner but this time am not so sure. Just concentrate on winnin' matches and forget about Heinze man.

Art, I don't think Rafa is making up excuses ala Ged, but he seems genuinely pissed. Who can blame him? Its about time he displays some fire and outward passion to complement his usual dignified manner. I don't think he's going to get too hung up about Heinze. Psychologically he has rattled the scum and purple nose. Maureen must be sh*tting himself after Sunday as well. As you said, and I agree we should start concentrating on winning matches starting with another away win this Sat.

Rafa's rant was something every Red was feeling.

I dont see why our players need to be fired up. We outplayed all of our opponents in 3 competitive matches so far, so confidence must be sky high.

I'd rather see feelings on the pitch mate. Let the bitching off the pitch for lows like Maureen & Slur Alex.

I agree with your general sentiments mate.Unfortunately the league has become so competitive that every bit of pressure on the referee helps. If by ranting he can pull a few decisions in our favor by putting pressure on the referee, then he has to do it.

This is not the first time he is doing it.At Valencia he had a public spat with Del Bosque when he told the media that Madrid always had 50-50 decisions conveniently in their favor during tight spots.

So, let me get this straight ... when Mourinho or Ferguson has a rant at the FA, we all claim that they are moaning and have a complex, but when Rafa does it, he is tactically building a siege mentality.

                        Riiight......

I don't like these excuses either.
Especially, complaining about early kick-offs sounds lame imo. And the Tevez Masch business is also no biggie I think.

I don't think it is anything remotely Houllieresque though. And can understand that Rafa is still fuming after the ref shambles against Chelsea. He seems to have lost some of his cool. Let's hope he can still deal with the pressure in his typical cool way.

                                I agree mate.
Lets face it we aren't going to lose the league title because we play 4 games early on a Saturday after an international match. i mean does a kick off 2 and a quarter hours early make any difference to us.

As for Masher, it seems to me we got him a damn sight easier than the Mancs got Tevez.

I think Rafa's under pressure and this outburst is a sure sign of it.

I don't want us to be like the mancs & Chelsea. I don't want our players surrounding the ref, veins bulging in their necks. i don't want our players diving left right and centre.

We won all our league titles & Euro cups the proper way and we can win more in the same way. thats one of the things that makes us a better club than either Man U or Chelsea.
