Gerrard will be a huge loss against Sunderland, that manc **** Keane will have them up for this game.

I'm really worried about dropped points in this game.

Sunderland showed their frailties last weekend and Rafa will know how to exploit them.Sunderland can be as up for it as they want but we have the better team and manager.

I have to watch that, if he carries his form for us into that game it could be hilarious.

I'm sure I read that Madrid have lost 5 of their pre-season friendlies - I know you can't read too much into that but we are talking about Real Madrid here. A Dudek classic at home against your local rivals on the first day of the season may just be enough to tip him over the edge

When's the game? Dudek playing for Real, and Garcia for Atletico has to be worth a watch.

RAFA: WE CAN COPE WITHOUT STEVIE
              Jimmy Rice 23 August 2007

Rafa Benitez insists he has more than enough cover in midfield if Steven Gerrard is ruled out of this weekend's visit to Sunderland.
The Spaniard can call on Momo Sissoko, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano or Lucas Leiva if his skipper is rested.

"It's clear we have a better squad and more players in this position. If we need to manage now it will be easier," the Liverpool told a press conference at Melwood on Thursday.

"Normally Gerrard would be a doubt because he has a break. I need to talk to the doctor and decide whether we have to manage or whether we can risk him."
