seems we're short of a center back. carra, agger, sammie

what would be ideal is a right back who can play center back as well.
Chellini from Juve is the obvious choice

Is our backup of Hyypia, Arbeloa, Aurellio, Insua, Hobbs etc any worse than what Utd, Arsenal & Chelsea have? I don't think so. Obviously Gerrard could play RB, and if it was a real emergency then I'm sure Momo or one of the kids would fill in at CB. But I think we're looking into things waaaay too deep here. In my opinion of course.

Admittedly it's good to have plently of cover - and lack of cover cost Chelsea last year probably - but paying £££s for back-up back-up players when we have all of the above isn't needed. What are the odds on having Carragher & Agger etc out injured together for any length of time?

Defensively we're sound. Move along people, there's nothing to see here

        Jinxed!!!!
Anyway, to lose two CB's in one game and still keep a clean sheet

We'll be fine. We'll just have to score more.

HE is proving to be an excellent find, have been impressed with him from day 1.
If he keeps this kind of form up, surely he should be worthy of a place in the Spannish squad.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                  Finnan---Arbeloa--Agger--Riise

Against Toulouse if Hyypia can't play.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'd like us to sign another defender. If Carra's out for a few weeks and we get another injury, we're in trouble.

I think even Rafa will be surprised at just how good he is tbh. I think Rafa bought him purely as back up with no intention at all of him being a 1`st team regular. But Arbeloa has grabbed this chance with both hands and is now one of the 1`st names on the sheet.

                      Arbeloa

In fairness, we dont have many other options, unless we bring in one of the young lads like Hobbs, which I seriously doubt.

I agree with that. It might not have proven difficult against Sunderland (to be fair they didn't threaten the goal much) and I don't think (should Sami not be ready for them) that Toulouse will be that much of a handful at Anfield, but if Carra were out for a few weeks and Hyypia's lack of pace and his getting-along-a-bit were present, I think it might just be one of those things you cannot leave to chance.

I think Rafa will be forced to sign another defender now, surely now, the urgency must be greater. Pitty Paletta didn't look like he was able to step up to first team football at LFC.

You can see Rafa wants this really to be our season. And you could see he wasn't pleased with the whole confusion of Carra's injury. I hope we get another defender, man Heinze would have been so perfect...

Carras rib and Samis nose forced us to play Arbeloa with Agger today... against sharper opponents than Sunderland we may rue not having an extra quality centre back. Hyypia will be able to play soon, probably against Toulouse. Hopefully Carra will not be out too long.
