    Oh just lighten up!

By all means continue to educate people about our lovely country's name but not here as you just come across as anally retentive republican.

No problem with that at all, but we are talking about a football team here, and the name of the football team is the Rep of Ireland, which is the name of the country aswell.
In the 40's the country was declared a republic, and thats what it is known as.
Eire I believe is the native tongue for Ireland, which would represent the whole of the island, Northern Ireland enjoyed a good win last night, so technically, you are incorrect when saying it is in fact Eire.
So all three are not just as valid.

                      Kilteragh was correct!!
Referee Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty, and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”

I'm not worried though, as we all well know club and international football are worlds apart.

In two or three years time Agger will be one of the best center backs in European football. He's got class written all over him.
I agree with the last part of your post but don't know how you came up with the "****ing ****e" part
The Danish team really was crap but the media singles him out as the only Danish defender who could take a bit of pride away from the game.
He kept making the tackles, kept showing some will and determination and tried organising the defense but the goalie and the other defenders were next to helpless on the night.
So perhaps it wasn't a game to remember for him but at least he's still showing his high levels of professionalism
Another 96.000 reasons to honour Rafa

I just hope someone has a cunning plan

I've never heard an Irish person refer to Ireland as Eire, but it wouldn't really offend me if they or someone else did.
It's Ireland as far as I'm concerned, and occasionally the Republic of Ireland.

                            Didn't see the game.

Ireland played well but Danish keeper was muck. Their fullbacks didn't exist and Agger was pulled about all over the place trying to cover their mistakes. In saying that though it wouldn't have been his best game but towards the end he was more attack minded than any of the Danish midfielders.
