Correct, but I'd rather Carra didn't do it either.Originally posted by Reece View PostHe needs to be careful not to look hypocritical because Carragher is certainly no angel in the respect of hounding referees. He obviously doesn't do it to the extent of the Chelsea players but still......
Agree with the other sentiments about following rugby.Well, here we are in a room with two manky hookers and a racist dwarf. I think I'm heading home.

Fair point, and a lot of players will hassle the ref in the passion of the moment. The difference with Chelsea is that thiers appears to be a sytematic and considered tactic. Drogba will run 50yards to a ref to argue about a decision that had nothing to do with him. Mind you it's not new, those of us that remember Manure teams of the 80's and 90's will be familiar with the sight of Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister pushing refs all the time. Time for the FA to take a stand? Nah, it'll never happen.Originally posted by Reece View PostHe needs to be careful not to look hypocritical because Carragher is certainly no angel in the respect of hounding referees. the ref needs more protection alright. it's not only that players hassle the refs, they verbally abuse them as well and so do managers. so what's the point being a ref if all you get is grief and abuse?
i honestly think players, managers and stuff should be obliged to behave appropriately in words and deeds. they should leave the swearing and all to us the people in the stands where it belongs.

Magnus Hedman who was at Chelsea for a few months last season has said that he had been at a club in which the manager instructed the players to hound the ref.
He didn't say which club.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Nothing will happen. It is the FA we are talking about here. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and you will know my name is The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. I was thinking this while reading and particularly with Carragher who was booked for dissent for arguing that very decision...Originally posted by Reece View PostHe needs to be careful not to look hypocritical because Carragher is certainly no angel in the respect of hounding referees. But I think others have commented on Carragher getting upset when outrageous decisions go against Liverpool and I think that's spot on. I remember watching the Villa game and noticing how well the players took that penalty decision.
When I think of Carragher arguing with referees I will always see that Chelsea decision, and another one springs to mind for a handball against him (not sure of opponents) when there was a huge ball shaped red mark on his face and we was just pointing at his face shouting 'What's that? What's that' (bit more colourfully though as you'd expect) after he was conked with the ball into his face from 3 yards while sliding to block it.
While I hate to see that from any player (Liverpool especially) it's certainly in a different league to the systematic bullying of referees that Chelsea have become famous for and United were equally famous for a few years ago - was it Mike Riley who was surrounded by 4 or 5 players and was actually backing away from them looking terrified? A low point in our league in my view....The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

Andy D'Urso, backing away from Keane, Stam, Beckham and others....with veins bulging in their necks, spitting fury. Appalling scenes they were. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

They are like Manure now, alway surrounding the ref and putting pressure on them.
Disgrace, and you what they keep on getting away with it.
Fines are no good in modern football its points deduction that should be looked at, just look at Leeds
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

They should retrospectively review these things and if a team is seen to intimidate a ref in a group on more than say three occasions a season then they dock 3 points.
Preferably Refs would use their existing powers and just card all players involved but this seems unlikely, especially considering the lack of backing they ever get from the FA/PL."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Terry and lampard are a disgrace for it....i wouldn't mind if they had a case for it but they complain at every decision. Prime example was terry when torres backed into him fair enough it was a foul but there was no need to go to the referee as he had awarded him the free...a complete bunch of ****s.!I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman.

Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Rafa's looking a bit petulent here. Let it go Rafa. He should forget the incident and should point out the solution. A 10 minute sin bin for ANY dissent or challenge to the ref's decision or for simulation.
No fuss, no drama. Within 1 season you'd drastically reduce the number of incidents.Originally posted by Gordon Brown
