Rafa Benitez has warned Liverpool fans to keep their feet on the ground about Fernando Torres after his £20million club record buy was compared with legend Kenny Dalglish.
Some supporters are already mentioning the 23-year-old Torres in the same breath as King Kenny, but Benitez talked down comparisons with the man voted Liverpool's best player ever.
He said: 'If Fernando can play at the same level as Kenny Dalglish it will be amazing.'
Dalglish was in the home country of the new boy, watching on TV, when he made his big impression against Chelsea last Sunday.
He said: 'I was off my seat in Spain when he stood up to John Terry in the first half when Terry was screaming in his face.
That's what you want to see from your players. He wasn't aggressive or annoyed.'He just wanted to show that slit-eyed racist ******* Terry that he wasn't bothered by whatever he did — and the smile was the perfect retort.
'I enjoyed Torres' home debut and was delighted for him when he scored.
'It was a marvellous finish, all made possible by the ball he received from his skipper.'
Liverpool will be looking for their 7,000th League goal at the Stadium of Light today but they may be without their captain Steven Gerrard, who has a broken toe.
