              According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

                As well as putting out what he believes will be the most effective team to play the opposition (not necessarily the best 11) he also assesses their fitness the day before.

                This has been many a reason why there has sometimes been surprise omissions.

                  - Hyypia is suited to this type of game -ball in the air alot etc
                  - Little corcerned with the lack of left footers in the side
                  - Also concerned that Crouch isn't even in the 16...AGAIN

                                Well this game will tell us whether we really are going to be challenging for the title this season. Good result takes us 2nd. There are no excuses anymore, no hard fixture list. Time to stand up and be counted.
