Looking in fine nick we are lads.
Arbeloa, Agger and Finnan - cool as cucumbers the lot of them when we lost Sami and Carra
Midfield looking good, Momo had a good game, slow start from Xabi but once he picked out Pennant in the build up to Momo's goal that was the catalyst for the silky basque to start getting in the groove again and find his passing range.
As for the wide boys, Pennant i thought was superb today, intelligent movement, showed his pace on a few ocassions, didn't give the ball away, put a few nice balls in for the forwards. He looks a totally different player in terms of confidence and drive. Keep it going lad, your starting to win us over.
Babel was a bit quiet but when he had the ball he always looked a threat, very strong lad, pacy and skillful, excellent bit of play in the move for our 2nd. This lad's the business but for now i'd keep him on the bench and bring him on for the last 25/30.
In terms of the striking department, the Crow and El Nino were a constant threat. How we got this Voronin lad on a free is beyond belief. He's intelligent, he uses his body well, he's strong, he's got good movement, a nice touch and he likes the odd strike at goal. I'm impressed with him. As for Torres well he was always on the move, finall we have a striker that will play right up top, on the shoulder of the last man as they say. Only disappointment is he didn't bag himself a goal but he had the Sunderland defence in tatters all afternoon. I didn't realise how quick he was but by christ can the lad fly
All in all a thoroughly professional performance although the way we're wasting all those chances is a concern, in saying that i'm sure the Crow, Torres and co will sharpen up as the season goes on.
Well played Reds.
