Saj, no way has there ever been a 'majority' on here saying that Momo was sh!t. It's always been a small minority. I think he's a good player but not on the same level as Stevie, Alonso or Mascherano. However, if he improves the footballing side to his game then there's no reason why he cant become an exceptional player for us in the future.

No, not as a fact but I'm being realistic. He was obvioulsy only brought in as cover as Momo was injured last year. Do you think Liverpool will pay £20 million pounds for him especially when we have 3 top class midfielders already and also the untried but highly rated Leiva. I think its obvious the next big signing will be a Ronaldo type player and this will probably happen next year. We don't have a bucket load of money as people think. Our spending has been on par with previous years even with the investment because we have sold a hell of a lot of players. What we have done this year is gamble a big sum on 1 player (Torres) which would never have happened without the Americans investment. We could never afford to fork out £20 million each on 2 players or more. Fact is, the priority still remains: we still need a winger.

I dont think we will sign him either, if the figures being touted about are correct, if it was nailed on i think Rafa would have took the money for Momo. The fact he resigned was a big indicator in the direction that Mascherano is here just for this year.

I'm not convinced that Mascher was bought as only cover for Momo. I suspect that who ever is better suited to our team will stay, it seems unlikely we can accommodate so many CMs long term but the competition we undoubtedly be good for us.

If Momo suits our team better and Lucas proves himself then I think it will be the right decision not to spend huge amounts on Mascher. If on the other hand he proves vital to our team I have no doubt that Rafa will sacrifice one of the other CMs to ensure his capture.

He might be rested a bit more early season as he played in the Copa America. He played 6 games including the final on 15th July, a good 6 weeks after our season ended
