How do these journos get away with it....?

    From the Telegraph today:

"Moment of the match: The tone was set within 30 seconds as Fernando Torres got in behind Sunderland's back four, and clipped a shot goalwards only for Craig Gordon, who had a fine game, to get a hand to the ball. He took the pace off it, and as the ball span goalwards, a back-tracking Paul McShane was able to hack clear. That was Sunderland all over - willing workers, but lacking Liverpool's quality."
The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions to me; the distinction is yours to draw...

Either it's a typo or the journo was watching a bird adjacent his seat.

not even remotely accurate, useless ****ers.... how can they get the first moment of the match so wrong!!! not as if veronin even looks like torres

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Its very lazy. You wonder if some actually watched the game at times when you read a match report or the ratings.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I realised whenever either of them did anything good it was Torres and whenever one of them ****ed up the commentator said Voronin. haha, talk about ignorance and bias.

              Liverpool a class apart
From The Irish IndependentSunday, 26th August, 2007

Gordon saves Keane from a hiding
WHEN Roy Keane was leading Manchester Un-ited, he often faced the situation Liverpool had to deal with at the Stadium of Light yesterday.

There were days when United were first forced to summon their fighting attributes before imposing their skill. Most of the teams Keane captained never had any problem locating their aggressive side, but Keane may have suspected, or at least hoped, that Liverpool would be different.

"I thought we would beat Liverpool this morning," Keane said after the game, but he acknowledged that, while Sunderland were still in the match until Andriy Voronin finished a scintillating move in the 87th minute to guarantee Rafael Benitez's side victory, Liverpool had dominated the game and would have won comfortably if it hadn't been for the most expensive goalkeeper in Britain, Craig Gordon.

"If you've got the quality Liverpool have and you match it with the work-rate they show, then you've got a chance," added Keane.

Liverpool's class, Keane acknowledged, made it hard for Sunderland to compete but, after the abject performance at Wigan last weekend, Keane admitted he was more content after yesterday's performance.

"Nobody likes losing football matches but I'm happier than I was last weekend."

Sunderland's problem this season will be adding real quality to the industry and willing they have produced in three out of their four games.

Keane is reluctant to admit that when it comes to games against teams like Liverpool or Manchester United, whom Sunderland play on Saturday, his team have little chance but the gulf was apparent yesterday.

"I know some managers talk about a league within a league and winning but I'm not going down that road-yet. I'd hate to go into a match thinking we were going to get beaten. That would be a sad day for me and for the football club."

Sunderland's determination not to be beaten gave Liverpool some uncomfortable moments. They might have left with the three points but the sight of Sami Hyypia and particularly Jamie Carragher, who will find out today if he has cracked a rib, hobbling off will concern Liverpool's manager.

Benitez went into the game with injuries and the problem of finding the freshest players from his squad of internationals. With Steven Gerrard out, Momo Sissoko started in midfield and he capped a performance of relentless industry with his first goal for the club, Liverpool's 7000th. The last time he played at the Stadium of Light he was sent off, so yesterday went slightly better.

The first 30 minutes was a scrap which, as was the case with Tottenham a fortnight ago, was probably just as well as neither side seemed capable of flowing football.

Liverpool had an early chance when Voronin - selected ahead of Dirk Kuyt and Peter Crouch, who didn't make the bench for consecutive away matches -- anticipated a weak Greg Halford backpass and sprinted away from Paul McShane. However, Gordon began the game as he intended to continue and made a fine save.

While Liverpool lost Hyypia in the opening quarter, Sunderland made an early change, sending on Anthony Stokes for Kieran Richardson and the Irishman could have given Sunderland the lead. His intelligent run across the Liverpool defence was read by Michael Chopra who played the ball into his path. With Pepe Reina closing him down, Stokes hit the ball to the keeper's right. Reina got a hand to it, but Stokes' shot could have been stronger.

Stokes remained a lively presence throughout, ending a controversial week with some joy.

"Stokesy did well," Keane said. "He showed some good bits of quality and that will have done him good."

Sunderland felt their first half was going well too until Liverpool finally decided to play. A searching Xabi Alonso pass found Jermaine Pennant on the by-line. He knocked the ball back across the goal, Voronin played it into the path of Sissoko and his shot was too strong for Gordon, who got a hand to it, but couldn't knock it off target.

"I am pleased for Momo. He has been working so hard all summer and he deserved a goal," said Benitez.

Sissoko didn't let it go to his head, remaining the game's primary destructive force and allowing Liverpool's creative players like Pennant, Voronin and Fernando Torres to prosper.

Torres should have scored at least once, but his menace alone justified his place on the field. Gordon denied him twice, once from a header at the end of the first half and again in the second when the Spaniard accelerated past Nyron Nosworthy with the nonchalance of a man going for a jog on Malibu beach before shooting against the keeper's shoulder. Gordon saved again from Voronin after more bewitching Torres play.

While Keane felt his side showed quality, he regretted that Reina, apart from Stokes' chance, had little to do. There will be more signings and Andy Cole will walk out at his old club in Sunderland's colours next as Keane searches for experience and quality.

Liverpool had plenty of both and it showed in their second goal. Babel and Pennant took the move into Sunderland's half with a swift interchange of passes that ended with Torres in possession. He caused fear and a moment's hesitation in the Sunderland defence before moving the ball on to Voronin. The Ukrainian has a style more common in a Eurotrash nightclub than a football field, and looks of indeterminate age, but the finish showed his class. "Sometimes you have to take your medicine," Keane said.

Back-to-back games against Liverpool and United are not the occasions to assess the condition of the patient.

I have to say at last a decent report, I was going to paste this in it's own thread but saw this and decided it was probably better here.
