And if it happens again? We've been very fortunate with our CB's over the last few seasons.Originally posted by captainfog View PostI think we'll sign someone but I won't be upset if we don't. I'm happy with what we've got TBH. Agger and Hypia and Arbeloa will do us fine for the 2 or 3 games Carra is out.
If we don't get another quality defender in, we're asking for trouble.18 + 5 = Englands greatest export

You get an unlimited B list of players who qualify by:Originally posted by SpeedyG View PostAnyone know who has been registered for the champions league? That should give us a decent idea of who from the reserves Rafa thinks is up to it.
Bet Hobbs is one of them!
A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1986
and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted
period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA.
Which means that a some of the young players won't be included in the main A squad list."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think Kaladze is a better bet if you consider the type of defender Rafa want, left back who can also play as a central defender.Originally posted by Rigadon View PostPhilippe Mexès??Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

What makes you think Milan would sell him? He almost cost Chelski a bomb 2-3 years ago and Kala has only gotten better. Plus Milan have lost 1-2 defenders and have not replaced them..Originally posted by AFII View PostI think Kaladze is a better bet if you consider the type of defender Rafa want, left back who can also play as a central defender.

I don't know if Milan is prepared to sell him. I only mentioned him because he is the type of defender Rafa is trying to sign.Originally posted by shelly View PostWhat makes you think Milan would sell him? That's the trouble at this late stage of the transfer window. The only players who are available are either very expensive (like Alves) or are not considered first choice for their current club (like Heinze). There is a light that never goes out. RIP Alan "Mally" Johnston and the 96. YNWA.

Oh I agree with that. I have grown to like Kala actually he's gotten better over the years. He's not a long term solution though... what almost 30 now? Still the youngest of Milan's mainstay defence LOL.Originally posted by AFII View PostI don't know if Milan is prepared to sell him. (Huh just checked, Digao's (Kaka's brother) a defender!)
Who I really want is Zambrotta.. covers both wings and both full back positions.... fat chance we have of getting him though.

Yeap... hence my statement I doubt Kala's available.Originally posted by rushscored4 View PostI agree with AFII: the Georgian would be an obvious choice as he can play both left back and in the centre but Milan might not want to sell him.

Kala's not likely to leave Milan though, he's first choice at least till Maldini's back from his injury and even then I think Paolo would play sparingly meaning it's usually Nesta/Kala defence
I also agree.. the other clubs realize that we are desperate for defensive cover and so can jack up the price given the window's almost at the end... it's annoying...
