baz, ged or any other manager for that matter would have had little or nothing to do with deciding on what a player should reccieve in wages.

Thing is I don't really see Rafa as ruthless, as this seems to imply some sort meanness to his character. I see him more as a racing car builder or something, who will do what it takes to get things running as smoothly and swiftly as possible. If he hears something rattling he'll find the loose bolt and tighten it. If a wing mirror was creating too much drag, he would remove it and replace it with a more aerodynamic one, but he wouldn't throw the old one away, he'd polish it up nicely, put it in a box and sell it on eBay.

I think you'll find that the contracts agreed at the time (by Parry not Houllier) simply reflected the prevailing conditions in the marketplace at the time. Football in general was throwing money around like it was going out of fashion. Parry came out and said approx 2 years ago that future contracts with players would have to reflect the downturn in football revenues.Originally posted by King Kenny 07I don't want this to turn into a Ged hating session as I know Dunk has strong opinions about him and hates when we slag Ged off.
Ged did an awful lot for the club and I respect what we acchieved under him but, wait a second I forgot where I was!!
Who giving a monkey's bollox what Dunk thinks!
Ged,although he did bring alot of pride back to LFC,he made a complete cats wank out of our wages structure during his time at the club.
What was he thinking signing players like Diao,Cheyrou and even Dudek on £50k or even £40k a week!
Who sanctioned this, surely Parry must take some of the blame.
I know you have to back the manager but for ****s sake did no-one stop to think!
Rant over.
As Parry is still in charge of transfer negotiations (not Rafa), the latest deals have been in keeping with what Parry said back then.
Rafa, to his credit, has shown a ruthless streak in getting shut of players no longer required. IMO Houllier's illness made him a bit soft re the players.

True. I think it is a combination of that and Houllier's two years of incompetence in the transfer market....Originally posted by le2redI think you'll find that the contracts agreed at the time (by Parry not Houllier) simply reflected the prevailing conditions in the marketplace at the time."In fact I’m going to make a promise which will be welcomed by many. i think the difference between rafa`s failures and geds are that rafa buys footballers who saw football as there way of life and if the opportunity to move just to play football came along they would take it,you only have to look at the quotes of the players who have left kronkamp being the most recent none of them regretted coming here and just admit it never worked out.houlliers mistakes are a different manner most of his were just happy to plod along knowing they were still being paid huge wagesOh I say his vision there was lovely
