Arbeloa ,what a find.The guys quality anywhere on the pitch.

It was a disgrace that such a quality player at a bargain price got so much abuse. The pre-season mentality that if a player didn't cost £20+ then he wasn't good enough really pissed me off.

Momo has looked world class, i know not the best oppostion but he certainly has improved alot on the ball

He's showing skill that i have never seen before from him

Before Momo's injury last season he was playing just as well. His passing was accurate and he almost looked the complete player. I argued pre-season with someone to give him an injury free season before writing him off, lets hope he can do it.

Last year if Gerrard was out we would have all been nervous of the match.With the team we have we could still do without our main cb, rb, right winger and our best striker and still win 4-0.

More often than not, when Gerrard doesn't play the team plays better. It's similar to the Henry situation at Arsenal, now that he's gone all the other players are free to express themselves. Gerrard being such a massive player, if someone has the ball and Stevie is free, they try to find him.

It's not as big an issue as before though when some of the players were petrified of him, because now the players we have are quality and have more belief in their own ability.

I'm not starting a debate saying that the team is stronger without Gerrard, just pointing out that it's no great surprise to see so many great individual performances without him in the team.

I havent had time to read this thread but lets get this out of the way just in case Justcruisin hasnt been on yet...........Kuyt was ****e, I've never seen a bloke run round like a headless chicklen so much, he never got near the goal let alone get a shot off on target heaven forbid, hard work pah anyone can do hard work etc etc etc


Anyway, with that out the way hopefully it will kill it off before it starts.

The team did well, great performance, and Momo was immense, he looks like he has gone up a level this season..driving surging runs, making things happen, but this time with good short and long passing to go with it so far. Allied to his industry and he might become a special player for us.

And to Benyouan - I thought he played very very well, and his last little cute through ball for Kuyt is what I hope we all see more of this season.

And Kuyt - well - very very good show too - hard work and 2 great finishes.

And Alvaro - showed the meaning of attacking full back play tonight - I bet thats given Rafa food for thought!

Them 4 for me stood out in the performance.

Agreed. He looked like he had re-found some of his youth!

However, I've always thought SAmi is quite a good footballer when he is in advanced positions.........he likes to play little short 1-2 type passing football when he is up supporting the attack. I think he quite fancies himself as a bit of a centre forward methinks........and I think I once read somewhere that he likes to play up front when he's in practice sessions. I think he always looks quite a threat when in the box, as proved over the years by goals/assists I think.
