Our new strength & quality in depth.

OK. Wind the clock back several years and we had the likes of Biscan, Smicer, Partridge, Zak Whitbread etc on the bench.

Tonight, in a game that was crucial to advancing in the Champs League worth an initial £10M, we were missing our Scouse 'heartbeat' of Stevie and J.C and fielded 2 players who havn't yet done the 'miles' as Liverpool players (Leto & Yossi).

But we could still drool over a bench that included Torres, Xabi, Babel, Lucas and Finnan!!!

Fook me. Although I've always thought this year is OUR year. Making that comparison and how Rafa has moulded this squad to be his own now makes the dream a possibility.

Even if it's not this season. Exciting times and exciting football lies ahead.

I was so happy to see houllier go. His style of football for LFC was abysmal and atrocious. He nearly made me become disillusioned with football.

Do you know that we once went 5 prem games without scoring under Houliler? Disgusting

Oh yes oh yes oh yes. I think the time is now for those who claimed he was an "over defensive" manager to eat some humble pie. The reason why sometimes we looked a little defensive away from home was MAINLY due to our limited attacking flair. There's no harm in playing 2 defensive mids in some away matches (or even home), again it was due to our limited attacking options not this other fact. Rafa has ALWAYS liked his team to get forward at every oppertunity.

We have a great ****ing squad, no mistake. And I am actually more positive now about our ability to keep all these players happy. Now that the fixtures are flying in we are seeing players rotated, not simply for the sake of rotation but to create effective opposition against any team in Europe and the League. It has surprised me that Rafa has been able to construct such a large and talented squad considering the money he has had to play with over the last few seasons (this past one excepted), but the likes of Arbeloa, Sissoko, Crouch, and, of late particularly, Pennant, have proven exceptional buys.

We have a manager with fantastic ability and I am genuinely very confident and, more so, excited about the coming years. We are on the cusp, I can feel it!

Does anyone have a rough idea of Rafa's net spent since he took over (excluding Cisse)?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I also love the way he excepts when he made a bad buy and ships them back out quicksmart. The latest being Paletta, following the likes of Pellegrino, Josemi, Kromkamp, Bellamy, Nunez, Moro etc etc..

We have the best squad in the Prem.

....and quality everywhere on the pitch.

I would like another winger and left back.

The boys look up for it this season, Rafa has that edge about this year, he's not going to take **** from Jose and Fergie.

The players look like they well up for it. All of them are running there socks off, tracking back as well as the flair fancy stuff.

If they dont perform they know players are on the sidelines that will come in for them.

Rafa has them all in gear for the season

Guess we're thinking along the same wavelength.

It truly is a remarkable job.

So approx 62 mill over 4-5 years....not bad i guess, especially since the state of our squad was truly awful when he took over.
I agree with whoever said earlier that we have the best squad in the premiership now. We really ****ing do dont we?!

                        Cheers.

£60m to build two quality teams is some going. Fergie and Mourinho should take note.

I just hope he gets the rewards this year that he so richly deserves.

                          It must be the Goateeee!

Aye, unlike the scum last year where you might say 2 or 3 players won them that title, it seems we have the entire squad working together and working hard.

Nobody was a passenger tonight, except for maybe Reina who hardly got a touch of the ball. Thank Fook.

Not only do we have an array of talent now in the squad, but they are all grafters who are out to impress. Hopefully it won't mean that our strikers get greedy and wasteful because they showed a great team spirit tonight trying to set each other up.

So glad Kuyt got his goals at the end. Was made up for him.

I think we need a bit more greed up front personally. Too often our forwards hold up play or look to set someone else up when a shot is on.

Look at Saturdays match, I think it was Voronin clean through at the end and he held it up to try and set up Kuyt or Torres when all he had to do was run on and put it in the back of the net.
