Personally i would just like the see the miserable git smile, he doesnt look like he is enjoying himself. If he aint careful he will end up with Gerrard frown-lines...

I think the comparisons between Babel and Cisse come from the fact that both players are big, black and fast, and Babel certainly is still a bit raw.

However, I think Babel has the tools to become a superb player for us--he's good on the ball, has a powerful shot, and I think his awareness is not bad for a 20 year-old. I don't think Djibril would have been able to make a pass in the box like the one that set up Kuyt's first goal yesterday, and he did play an important part in the build-up to Voronin's goal against Sunderland. He's also a much better ball carrier than Cisse ever was--he actually dribbles instead of simply kicking the ball forward and attempting to outrun the defender.

Give the lad a chance. He's still very young, and he'll no doubt do some things this season that will drive us mad. But I'm confident he'll have his good moments as well, and will improve tremendously with experience. In a couple of years, I think he'll have more in common with John Barnes than with Djibril Cisse...

nothing wrong with booting the ball ahead of a defender and then striping him, babel has blistering pace he may as well use it.

He still looks VERY raw to me.

Definately talented and proberbly needs time,i mean they can't all hit the ground running.

Out of all our summer signings,he is proberbly the one i have been the most dissapointed with. But maybe i am expecting too much.

I'd like to know what he feels is his best position, though.
            Can't argue with that Shaggy

Agreed, but if that's the only trick in your bag, you've got a problem. It works well if you're 40-50 yards out from goal and there's nobody behind the guy defending you. But, if you're up against a pacy defender, or only have so much space in front of you, kicking and running won't work more often than not. You've actually got to dribble the ball...

Missed the game this weekend, but managed to catch MOTD. Can anyone tell me how he actually played? Is he still a bit too hit and miss? He looked very lively, ripped the fullback a few times and set up Alonso's second goal with some good play.

Anyway - Awesome, awesome goal by Ryan. Shocking defending admittedly, but what a goal. Sent two defenders on their arse with the fake, sent the keeper the wrong way with the Ronaldinho style fake eyes and then lashed it nonchalantly into the top corner, all done with incredible grace. Far more like Henry than Ciise that goal was.

Converted yet AnfieldAnfield? Im leaving "Ryan Babel Fan Club Member #19" open for specially for you (it Babel's squad number). Its yours when you feel ready.

how was that rubbish defending, babel is two footed so was is capable of hitting it first time left footed had he done so they would have blocked it and then people would have called it 'heroic' defending.
babel sold two defenders, the cameraman, the crowd with a moment of genius

Looks very good, quick, strong, direct and with a great strike on him.

Keeps wide, carries the ball at pace and commits defenders. And only 20 years old.

                      Cracking signing.

For someone of his age to produce something like that, is fantastic.

If it had been Rooney, the media would still be wiping the jizz now...

He will be world class in one / two years time.

Pennant was criticized for being 'not good enough' early last year by the same 'Babel bashers' (they will know who they are ), but he's progressed immensely and has been very good since the start of the season.

Babel is the better player and I expect him to be fantastic as from next season.

He is a class player I can't believe that anyone is criticising him already he's barely a wet week in the place.
Anyway Shaggy in his PC when he signed he said he was a striker but Rafa interjected and said he can play anywhere across the front.
Himself and Torres are going to set EPL alight we have to superstars in the making I for one feel extremely lucky to have these player and I am thrilled we have signed them.
                                Anfieldanfield hasn't a bleeding clue.
